39+1 and mild cramping - anyone want to wait with me?!

Hello! First post after being a lurker for a long time… this is my third baby and I’ve been having mild cramps for about a week. I called the midwives after a particularly strong one (there was just one) and she said it isn’t unusual for mothers who have had babies previously to have a number of “false starts”… reassuring!

Anyone in a similar boat and want to share how they’re feeling and wait with me?

Hope you’re all doing well 😘

40w+3 and I’ve been having some cramps and stronger pains since Tuesday night. Still no real sign of anything happening and I’m terribly fed up now.

GSMCK · 28/10/2021 17:20

Also 39+1 with my first and loads of braxton hicks and some cramping but nothing much else to report! The waiting game is no fun at all!

marykitty · 28/10/2021 17:22

Same here, 39+4 and a lot of BH and false starts....i was induced at 42 weeks with DS1 and had an EMCS, I am slowly going crazy here Confused

Jennyawrenny · 28/10/2021 17:24

Hi Shiny! I’m sorry you’re fed up 😕 I find constantly thinking about whether it’ll happen in an hour/day/week exhausting in itself… is this your first baby?

@GSMCK - no, no fun at all! Have your cramps been constant/going on for a few days? I was induced with my first and natural labour at 41+5 with my second…. This just feels very different!

@marykitty - you were induced because you’d gone to 42 weeks then? Gosh that’s a long one…. Are you feeling any cramps etc this time?

@Jennyawrenny second baby, although my first was spontaneous labour at 39w3, so naively I assumed this one would be much the same. Spent the whole day waiting about for an emergency scan appointment after there were concerns with baby’s growth at my midwife appointment, so I’m now very fed up! Got a scan appointment at lunchtime now so will see what they say. If all is fine they won’t consider induction until next Saturday.

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 08:24

@Shinysilverlamp good luck for the scan today. Did they have concerns based on fundal height? I hope it goes ok for you… will you accept the sooner induction if they offer it?

Yes, I wonder how long my pregnancy would have been without induction, probably 70 weeks Grin JK.
This time I am feeling a bunch of cramping since few weeks, couple of Nights I even thought it was go time but then they stopped Angry

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 09:35

@marykitty I feel exactly the same! Bunch of cramps, some even stopping me walking and taking my breath away! And then… nothing. This is such a different experience from my first two pregnancies. With the second I just went in to labour - suddenly had cramps and knew it was happening. I’m trying everything to keep the oxytocin flowing - inc bouncing on my birthing ball with both of my kids. They just think it’s a huge game 😂

Hope it's ok to join - I'm due tomorrow and have been having stop/start cramps for days now, it's so frustrating!!

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 10:38

@mooloop of course! It’s so frustrating isn’t it? I’m convinced now that I won’t even recognise when labour starts this time… is this your first/second/etc?

mooloop · 29/10/2021 10:43

First for me @Jennyawrenny! So I have no idea what I'm doing Grin what about you?

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 10:53

@mooloop this is my third but the entire pregnancy could not have been more different from the other two! And this end part is also totally different. Induced with my first (due to growth concerns) and 41+5 natural labour with the second which came out of nowhere. It’s so tiring being on high alert since 37 weeks…

Definitely read this as 39+1 and wild camping! Thought you were brave!

krj2608 · 29/10/2021 11:36

I'm 38+ 5 today.
Baby has now turned from the right position to back to back, but as low as can be, scan confirmed yesterday. Meaning all 3 have been b2b. Baby slightly on the smaller side at 6lb 6. My daughter was scanned the day she was born, the estimated 6lb 15oz and she was 6lb exactly.

I was checked last Saturday and was 2cm, and soft cervix 😬 My son was born at 40 weeks and my daughter was induced at 38+4, ended up in emergency csection 😬 not for complications of induction.

Currently bouncing on the ball and crying due to uncontrollable emotions 😂 I have just cried because I will no longer be pregnant

Shinysilverlamp · 29/10/2021 12:19

Scan is all fine, so no reason to induce early. Will just need to hope she makes an appearance on her own.

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 13:18

@Shinysilverlamp I’m so glad! I’m planning a long walk today…

@krj2608 I was upset last night because I’ll no longer be pregnant too! DH was baffled as it’s been a tough tough pregnancy and he can’t understand why I’d want it not to end… I can’t really describe it? It’s the feeling of waiting for a surprise maybe?! How did you get a midwife to check you at 38 weeks? I asked them to check me and they said no!

@NatMoz this made me belly laugh, then I needed to run and get some toilet roll because my pelvic floor isn’t what it once was!! 😂

OP posts:
krj2608 · 29/10/2021 13:24

@Jennyawrenny I had reduced movements/ change of movements due to change of position. I was having really strong painful tightenings which were picked up on the ecg. They wanted to check if things were happening or whether to send me home. I have text my midwife to request a sweep Monday or Tuesday

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 13:26

@krj2608 interesting! And the cramps have continued? I guess they must be dilating very slowly then… long latent phase?

OP posts:
krj2608 · 29/10/2021 13:29

@Jennyawrenny yeah they think it's a slow start annoyingly. I was hospitalised with my first at 31 weeks for 2 weeks, put on bed rest and contracted until 40 weeks when he was born 😬 with two others I'm hoping they may intervene a little sooner.

Jennyawrenny · 29/10/2021 19:12

@krj2608 when have they said they might induce you?
