Waiting until booking appointment for referral- too late?

I have a history of early miscarriage.

A chemical in February this year I was relieved about, so didn’t document or follow up.

Then from May- two first trimester miscarriages- one MMC, one where I started bleeding.

I am 5 weeks pregnant and have made an appointment at a private clinic to be seen as if I am a recurrent miscarriage patient, with a view to starting on progesterone asap.

I spoke to my NHS midwife team today to schedule my booking appointment and bless them, they fought my case for a referral to recurrent miscarriage team but they don’t refer until after the booking appointment- at which point I’ll hopefully be 8.5 weeks pregnant.

If I have a history of early miscarriage- what on earth will this do? What is the point of referring me? Surely it’s far too late?

I’m lucky enough to go private for early pregnancy care if I need it- but I know the NHS is the best place to be in case anything goes wrong. Why do they refer so late?
