If you are about 29 weeks pregnant, give or take a few weeks, how does your cervix feel? I'm not sure if I'm worrying over nothing but mine doesn't feel anything like I think it should. It's basically flat, soft and soft of feathery feeling (eg not smooth). I'm wondering if this is a bad sign and if I need to call a midwife.

Hi

I'm not 29 weeks pregnant but just wanted to give you some reassurance:
How do you know what your cervix feels like?
If you're 100% sure something isn't right, I'd arrange an internal scan to check your cervix length. This would be quicker privately. Or you could request one
Lastly, you're at a good gestation so you shouldn't panic even if there is something. I know this because I have cervix issues and after 24 weeks, the pressure is off your cervix and on your abdominal muscles (told by a specialist in this area).

Hope that helps :) please don't panic

I wouldn't worry but call the midwife if you want reassurance. I'm afraid I've no idea how mine felt because I didn't check. BUT I would definitely not be checking yours regularly as this will increase the risk of infection.

I never felt my cervix whilst pregnant. Leave it alone Confused

Totally agree with this!

If your worries call your midwife but you really shouldn’t be checking your cervix during pregnancy! I don’t know anyone that’s done this. Surely it’s just increasing the risk of infection

Goldi321 · 28/10/2021 09:12

Please stop doing this, as everyone else says it’s a huge infection risk. There is a good reason why no one else can tell you how theirs feels!
