25 weeks can feel baby’s back when laying down

Hi, this is my first pregnancy so it’s all very new. I don’t have a massive bump but I’m very tall and slim anyway. I’ve noticed when I lay down I can almost feel the whole baby by very lightly pressing on my stomach. I can tell exactly where he is laying and usually feel his whole back. It is definitely the baby because it moves around when I touch it too much. I would’ve thought at this gestation he would be nice and cushioned inside of me but he always feels very close to the surface of my skin. Am I being paranoid or is this normal?

I think this is normal dependent on your body shape, and whether placenta is exterior or anterior. My baby has been very similar and is always at the front and can feel all of them when lying down too. My placenta is exterior. My midwife hasn't said it is an issue at all, in fact they said baby is in a great position and is always easy to find. Baby will still be nice and cushioned in there so don't worry about that.

26 weeks here and have had the same for several weeks, also when sitting. Always on my right side. GP felt him yesterday and didn't mention it was a problem 😊

This surprised me in my first pregnancy too. I'm healthy weight but not super skinny, and could feel the baby very close to the surface. Felt like less than a centimetre I would say.
Weird eh! Enjoy it though! Me and DH played a lot of 'guess the body part' 😆

Thank you! Definitely feel reassured now that it’s not just me. It’s been freaking me out a little for a couple weeks 😂 he’s a very active little baby so I know he’s okay in there
