I asked at my 38 week and they said they don't offer until due date!

Don't think they offer it routinely at 38wks without a reason.

I had very big first baby and needed to not go overdue with my second so I could home birth again. I had to ask and then MW wouldn't do it until I was 39+6.

I didn't get one until 41 weeks! Ended up having 3 and had DD 12 days late. Next time I will be asking for one as soon as I hit 40 weeks as that was the longest 12 days of my life!

I had a sweep at 38 weeks, but I was under care of haematology and my baby was measuring massive so they wanted to get things rolling.

That sweep done absolutely nothing and I ended up going in and having an induction a few days later.

I think you'd only get a sweep if you had issues I don't think they do them as early as 38 weeks .

I’ve had 2 sweeps both at 41 weeks. I wasn’t allowed any earlier although I did ask. They both worked though, I went into labour that same day each time

Good luck!

Had a sweep at 40 weeks with my first x

I had one at 36+6 with my last one but that was only because it was OK by the consultant. Its worth remembering that there is absolutely no evidence they work and they are not wirhout risk and for this reason most European countries don’t do it.

I was offered my first one at 39+4 with second but only because of how the appointments fell but they couldn't do it as you have to be slightly dilated to be able to. My second one at 40+4 worked.

I had a sweep when I was exactly 39 weeks, I was told at the apt previous that I’d be offered it. I had the sweep and 24 hours later contractions started and I had my little boy not long after that.

I’ve got one booked for 38weeks but only because my induction is booked for 39 weeks and the consultant has ok’ed it. The midwife said they don’t normally do them until 40 weeks.

lillylemons · 28/10/2021 22:56

i'm booked for induction at 39w2d but not been offered a sweep and i've no more appointments before the induction date.
