Do some people just cook babies longer?

I'm pregnant with my fourth, and so far I've gone overdue in all three pregnancies so I'm fully expecting to go over again, assuming that I just cook them a bit longer. I was just idly wondering if this is a thing though, that some women naturally have longer pregnancies, or did I just get unlucky three times (I'm not a fan of late pregnancy 😂) ?

*baby watch?

I used to be baffled by people meeting me and loudly declaring "oh still no baby?".
🤬
um no, motherfucker, I'm only 7m pg.

and when family members would call me to ask "have you had the baby yet" I'd say "you ask me one more time and I swear you'll be the last to know. stop bothering me about it , it's stressful. let's talk about something else"

try that.

All mine (3) induced at 10-14 days late, no sign of coming naturally at all!!!

Granted I’ve only had two pregnancies so it could just be a coincidence, but both of my kids were born at 39+2. I figure that’s just how long my pregnancies last. Equally a friend had three girls, all born at 42+2 and me and my sister were both born at 41+6. So I do think a length that’s “normal” for you could be a thing.

Both of mine 41 + 2. So maybe, yes.

NiceGerbil · 29/10/2021 22:04

Yes it's a thing!

Women of different ethnic backgrounds have slightly different 'normal' gestation periods and there's been stuff in the news about that needing to be taken into account more.

I was induced at 42+2 and body wasn't ready placenta fine etc. They pressed me into it (risk! Death!) and I really think it was not right at all for me (shitshow birth).

Take raspberry leaf extract at max dose for last 4 weeks. It should help. Smile

@offyougotwantychops

I think in France full term is 42 weeks, I seem to remember reading it when I was pregnant with DD, but that was 11 years ago, and happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.
I thought it was 41 weeks in France

I was 37+0 with my first and 39+1 with my second.

It seems to be a common theme in my mums side of the family that we give birth earlier than our due dates, not one of my mums pregnancies, her two sisters, my female cousins or grandmothers pregnancies (so 14 babies in total) have gone overdue.

JKDinomum · 29/10/2021 22:19

Yep. All 3 of mine were 7-10 days late so I assume that's just how long my body takes to make a baby.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 29/10/2021 22:43

Both of mine were a month early for no apparent reason.
