Pregnant with twins and I'm so worried!!

So I'm around 7 weeks pregnant and had to go to the EPAU for an emergency scan due to spotting, cramps and because of a previous ruptured cyst, they wanted to ensure I was not having an ectopic pregnancy last week.

I found out I'm having twins during this scan and that I was 6 weeks at the time and both babies had a heartbeat and measured the same, I was told everything was looking really good.

However, ever since finding out I'm pregnant with twins I have began having serious squeaky bum moments about the statistics on losses and vanishing twin syndrome.

I'm just looking for a little bit of reassurance from my fellow pregnant ladies and twin mummas, this is a normal fear right? Im literally counting down the days till I get to 12 weeks so the worry can change to all the usual "Im having twins" worries.

Hi @AfinepieceofCass
I was totally the same (still am a bit). I had a previous mmc, so when I found out at 5+6 it was twins I was utterly convinced I lose at least one, if not both. Every scan I went to they were both still there, growing ahead! And now I'm 25 weeks tomorrow 🙂 I'm now worried about them being born early, the worry never goes completely, but it does get so much easier the further you go. Any questions reach out!

Well, my twin sis and I have made it to our forties! Good luck, it's nice to be a twin.

Congratulations, welcome to the wonderful roller coaster of being a mum to twins. It’s exciting and frightening, but definitely worth the ride.
Is a twin pregnancy higher risk? Yes! Can you research all the possible complications? Yes. Will the amount you worry have a direct impact on the outcome? No. I understand the fear, but try to let it go as it doesn’t help anybody. For now a day at a time. Deep breaths. You’ve got this.

Can I ask you all about pains felt.
I am 15w2d with my didi twins and today I am feeling sharp short pain in very low right abdomen.

Part of me is thinking it might actually be bowels not babies 🙃 but I just dont know.

Also in the last week or so my need to toilet has dropped ...would u think thats just as the babies are moving out of the pelvic region as time progresses?

I am spending this whole pregnancy worrying. Its dreadful. Just want to relax and enjoy it

I’m 32+3 weeks with dcda twin girls. Yes OP, the worries fo continue throughout as it’s higher risk but, in my experience, you are really well looked after. As the pregnancy progresses you’ll notice how many more scans and opportunities you get to see your little ones compared to singleton pregnancies. I’ve never felt left alone in the process.

@Ladder789 I would expect you’re getting round ligament pain. This happened to me much earlier than friends who were at similar stages of pregnancy because everything is stretching at double the rate, essentially. You can always ring the MW but sometimes aches and pains are just normal.

Totally normal, I was the same, wish I'd never read about bloody VTS but the 12 weeks did pass and I have 2 monster toddlers now. As soon as you stop worrying about that they'll be something else though! Good luck xxx
