Reflux During Pregnancy

Hi there,
I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and suffering terribly with reflux on a night. However, it's not the typical acid/burning sensation, it's the feeling of food and liquids stuck in the top of my oesophagus. I'm laying down on a night and struggling to take a full breath because of everything being backed up and I often drift off and jolt myself up choking on regurgitated material (sorry tmi!!) it's resulting in me getting barely any sleep and feeling exhausted through the day, especially when I'm at work, which obviously isn't doing me or the baby any good. I am currently taking omeprazole 20mg twice daily, sleeping propped up virtually upright and trying to avoid heavy meals on a night but nothing seems to be working. It's driving me crazy! Every time I Google, everywhere only comes up with tips for heartburn/acid reflux, but as I mentioned before there is absolutely no burning sensation or acid. My GP and midwife can't seem to offer any further advice. Is there anyone out there who has been through this and can offer any advice? I'm going to try to speak to my GP again about it tomorrow but I have a feeling I probably won't get much further forward Sad
Thank you so much in advance!
Rebecca

The only thing that helped me, but didn't entirely solve the problem, was avoiding acid and acid creating foods (according to the acid watcher diet cookbook), which was tomatoes, citrus, chocolate, dairy, coffee and tea. It did help, but was a lot of work and a bit miserable. I would also have a big swig of gaviscon before going to bed.
You're already on omeprazole so not sure what else to suggest, sorry!

@ThedaBara Thank you for your reply! I have tried gaviscon and rennies as well, however because I'm not getting any burning/acidic sensation they aren't doing anything SadI'll try cutting out those foods as much as I can though and see how I get on. Thank you again
