What do Braxton Hicks contractions feel like? Is sex safe?

This is a hard topic to bring up with family and I won't see my midwife for another month. I am 20 weeks pregnant and whenever I have sex with my husband, I get backache and tight feelings (similar to a stitch) across my tummy. Could these be Braxton Hicks contractions? It's hard to determine what they should feel like when I looked online so thought I might ask some experienced mummies out there. Are there any positions we should be avoiding? I have been told not to lie on my back but even when I don't I still get these aches. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Sex is perfectly safe. I used to get tightening after a while but it wasn't an issue in the long run. Try drinking more water, being dehydrated can cause tightenings and quite common during "exercise".

I often get Brexton Hicks; my belly feels super tight and heavy. It isn't painful really, mostly just uncomfortable. I also get them while having sex, so for me lying on the side is the best, as my belly doesn't feel as heavy. I get tightening after, but it goes away in a couple of minutes. Not sure about avoiding positions, with my pregnant belly I either on my back or on my side- I don't think I could handle anything else😅

I found them tight and like my belly was being stretched across the skin.

Sex is fine! I had a LOT when I was trying to induce labour and it never worked haha!
