I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

@paintfairy I had two scans - one with my fertility clinic and one with the hospital at 12 weeks and both sonographers asked if we wanted to know the sex. So I think they can make an educated guess?

Me and hubby have had a feeling that this is a girl ever since embryo transfer (we really couldn’t care less either way - just hope they’re healthy)
Apparently that long thing poking out the belly is called a ‘nub’ and if it points upwards it indicates boy. If it’s parallel to the spine it’s a girl. Mine doesn’t seem to do either clearly - so I’m going to stick to my intuition and say girl! But would be interesting to hear others guesses!

@Holskey @Etonmess20 thank you. I had a period of worry before my 12 week scan which ruined the build up for me. I had a chat with my husband at New Years and we’ve decided we’re going to do our best this year to stop worrying and enjoy this pregnancy as much as we can. What will be will be, and our worries are stopping us enjoying the victories and the good times. But I don’t want to upset anyone so if this sort of thing isn’t really the right place, please just flag it up with me, I understand that it’s important for this to be a safe a space for others x

Whoops sorry guys don’t know why it’s posted it 3 times!

paintfairy · 02/01/2022 17:00

@LemonyT oh really? I'm honestly clueless, but that's interesting! I know you can tell for sure from about 16 weeks but I didn't know you could before. We won't find out though anyway so I haven't paid much attention.

Here's mine from today.

LemonyT · 02/01/2022 17:08

@paintfairy 🥰 what a cutie- congrats!!! Happy your scan today went well. Tbh I have no idea looking at yours either lol

Etonmess20 · 02/01/2022 17:40

@LemonyT @paintfairy lovely scan pictures 🥰

@LemonyT I definitely made a conscious effort to be more positive following my 12 week scan, it's difficult but like you say, the worrying won't change the outcome! I used to just think about the next appointment rather than the whole pregnancy. So the 16 week appointment you should get to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler which is reassuring. Then only another 4 weeks after that until the 20 week scan. Breaking it down definitely made it feel less daunting for me.

Holskey · 02/01/2022 18:13

Lovely scan pics @LemonyT and @paintfairy 😍

People claim nub theory is accurate from 12 weeks but I've posted my son's scan around recently (to gauge accuracy) and everyone has said girl, most with a great deal of confidence too. Given chance is 50/50, there's no point for me unless there's a high degree of accuracy. That said, I'm predicting yours is a boy @LemonyT 😂

strawberrysummer19 · 02/01/2022 19:26

Lovely scan pictures ladies! How clear is the pic @paintfairy I'm so looking forward to my next one as I cannot believe the difference at this stage - I had one at 9 wks but have decided to not scan again until my 12wks! X

paintfairy · 02/01/2022 19:34

@LemonyT I have looked at all mine and you can't see. But it's maybe a bit soon before 12 weeks.
@Etonmess20 that's what I do, just look to the next event, not miles ahead. Or i can't deal with it. I'm not thinking past my 12 week scan atm.
@Holskey 🤣 Well yeah, there are only 2 options! You'll be getting one or the other. That's what I think too.
@strawberrysummer19 its bonkers that mine looks like a baby now. When less than 3 weeks ago, it definitely looked like a 🐸 I wasn't going to get any extra but I decided to do this one. I likely won't get any more though.

strawberrysummer19 · 03/01/2022 10:31

@paintfairy it's crazy isn't it. My scan at 19th seems such a long time away! But trying to hold on as I don't want to book anymore than I have really!
How are you feeling now? X

paintfairy · 03/01/2022 10:56

@strawberrysummer19 its starting to feel more real now. I'm just a bit worried about the genetic tests etc coming up.

Porridgeislife · 03/01/2022 12:06

@strawberrysummer19 even a week is a big difference! We saw a lot more at our NHS scan at 12w5d vs our private nuchal scan at 11w4d, even though the NHS ultrasound machine was potato quality vs the private one.

I’ve given in and bought some low dose aspirin at the supermarket. I’m going to turn 40 anyway during the pregnancy which would kick me into the risk category. I did a heap of reading and it apparently needs to be taken for the second trimester to be of use.

Has anyone got a bump yet? I’m 13w today and just look a bit fat but my tummy feels much harder than pre-pregnancy.

strawberrysummer19 · 03/01/2022 12:32

@Porridgeislife oh wow I can't wait for that, my early scans were just blobs and my nhs I'll actually be 13ks +1 although have booked a private scan as DH can't make the date for my nhs for 12+5 so hopefully between the two we will get some good pics x

Holskey · 03/01/2022 14:42

I have a bump. I was only just pregnant though (ds born June '20) so I got a bump quite early this time. It definitely gets bigger throughout the day too so it’s obviously helped along by bloat 😂

LemonyT · 03/01/2022 16:32

I have a bump too. This is my first pregnancy but at 14 weeks I’m already in maternity leggings - they’re so comfy

paintfairy · 03/01/2022 17:20

@LemonyT I'm jealous of anyone that can wear leggings. I have terrible bum and thighs and literally would not dare go out like that. Unless I can find very long tops?! I'm really going to struggle with clothes. My jeans weren't exactly roomy and I'm going with the hair bobble option to hold them together. 🤣 I only have a small bump (some is bloating I'm sure) but I need a plan......

Porridgeislife · 03/01/2022 17:43

@paintfairy same. My clothes were a bit tight going into our FET as we did a lot of back to back treatment over the last 12 months and my enthusiasm to get rid of the IVF weight between rounds took a back seat.

I’m hanging out in one pair of Lululemon leggings and a pair of Uniqlo jeggings right now. I don’t think I’m ready for maternity jeans yet but my options are definitely getting thinner on the ground.

LemonyT · 03/01/2022 22:30

@paintfairy I was also doing the hairband loop trick. But then over the Christmas hols I lived in a comfy loose onesie. And then I couldn’t bring myself to get back into jeans afterwards. They’re not the most flattering but with some long tops/ jumpers they’re totally fine!

paintfairy · 03/01/2022 22:35

@LemonyT maybe I'll have to get some. Along with some long tops! I agree jeans aren't the most comfy.

LemonyT · 04/01/2022 17:07

Bit of a weird question - but has anyone noticed their pee smelling sweeter and stronger? A bit like popcorn/ vanilla when I wee! I’m worried this is a sign of gestational diabetes?

Holskey · 04/01/2022 22:07

@LemonyT my pregnancy wee has a distinct smell. Tmi (sorry) but my poops also have particular smell that I recognise from my last pregnancy. I worried it might be a health issue (I had liver problems last pregnancy) but I had that tested and it was fine. I'm due a gestational diabetes test which I also had with my first, but I didn't develop it until late on last time. I know it's not the vits I'm taking because I took them before I was pregnant. I've come to think it's just a pregnancy thing. But if you're concerned about GD ask your midwife for the test. They test loads of people all at once, so I can't imagine it's a problem. Do you have any risk factors? I got an early test with my first pregancy because my dad is type 2.

LemonyT · 05/01/2022 21:44

@Holskey thanks will mention it at my next appointment - I am at slightly higher risk I believed because of my ethnicity (Asian).

paintfairy · 08/01/2022 09:17

@LemonyT @Holskey mine has smelt funny at times too. As have my poops. Do I'm not sure it's that weird. Also- everything has bloody smelt funny to me (its calmed down now) and tasted funny, so I'm not sure how much of it was actually just me!?

2mumlife · 08/01/2022 20:00

Hi ladies, couple of familiar names from the infertility forum!

Just looking for a bit of reassurance - I'm 5+2 today afet FET transfer. I had pink tinge when I wiped this afternoon, and brown spotting since. I have cramping, but I'm on progesterone and had cramping pretty much daily anyway, and don't think the cramping is any worse than before. I felt hideously pukey this morning, and my hcg bloods were done by the clinic just on Wedesnday and were nice and high, so I'm hoping this is nothing serious. I know spotting is meant to be common in early pregenancy, but is that that same with IVF pregnancies?

Success stories of others who had bleeding and its been ok would be useful :)

TheSnufflet · 08/01/2022 20:05

Hi @2mumlife how wonderful to see you on this board! No experience spotting myself but I know it's v v common early on with IVF and non-IVF pregnancies and doesn't necessarily mean anything is amiss - do you have a scan booked in?

2mumlife · 08/01/2022 20:11

@TheSnufflet Great to see you too :) My EPS with fertility clinic isn't until the 24th which feels like an age away. I had a CP in June, so I''m feeling a bit nervous about everything. Clinic were good enough to get me in for blood though (my OTD was NYE, so I got told to POAS instead of the usual blood test, but when the clinic reopened on the 4th (15dp5dt) they said I could come in the next day for bloods which were 5947, so I'm thinking that was only a few days ago, so everything should be ok?)
