Miscarriage but stronger positive tests??

I had what I suspected to be a chemical pregnancy this month. Likes never got much progressions, stayed pretty light, CB digi still said 1-2 weeks even taken a week apart with FMU.
I thought something was wrong and made appt with GP who said there's nothing they can do.

I started bleeding on Thursday evening around 5pm, started pink spotting then turned into bright red blood and a normal period-like amount. I was accepting of the fact this must have been a chemical and I was having a miscarriage. Spoke to GP again and said wait it out. Take a test 7 days later and it should be negative. If not, go back and see them.

The bleeding started to lessen yesterday (bled for 2.5 days) so I took a test hoping to see the line had faded or completely turned negative... to my surprise, the line was VERY positive and the darkest line I've had yet? (Photo attached)

I'm so confused... if my HCG is dropping due ti me miscarrying, why isn't the tests getting lighter? It's getting darker and I can't understand why. I rushed and took a CB digi again in the hope it may have changed to 3+ or 2-3 but it still said 1-2 😔 (I'll attach photo of the inside)

Can anyone share any experience or advice? This feels like torture waiting wondering 💔

Forgot to add my LMP was 18/09/21 so those tests yesterday would've been @ 5 weeks.

I'd recommend going to your local early pregnancy assessment unit. Not all bleeding results in a miscarriage x

Can you call them and go in yourself? I always assumed you had to be referred by GP. I'm not sure what they can do with me only being 5 weeks.

You can speak to the EPU directly or the midwife attached to your GP practice. I had significant bleeding when pregnant with DD2 and she was fine

snackess · 25/10/2021 11:25

I had a relatively significant period of bleeding at 5/6 weeks.
Had to wait until 7 weeks for a scan with EPU. Presumed miscarriage but actually all was well.

DS now nearly 2!

@prayingforrainbows at my local one you can just call and speak to them. They'll probably ask you to come in for a blood test - when I had similar bleed and pain at 5.5 weeks they did a scan & a blood test for hcg, which confirmed that it was an MC.
I felt I needed to get it confirmed as it was my 3rd so I wanted to be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.

Just phoned the EPU, they said they won't see me or help me. Nothing to do with them apparently as I'm not 6 weeks. 😭😭😭

Unfortunately there is not much anyone will do until you are 6wk+. It can take a while for tests to go negative after mc, it is torture playing the waiting game. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for you but do prepare yourself for the worst.

I've had some rubbish experiences with GP's and EPAU when miscarrying, my last one I was 9wk and they kept bouncing me around when seeking help then couldn't get me in for a scan for 4 days. By then it was too late anyway so I cancelled the scan and rode it out at home, was more heartbreaking as we'd seen a hb on a private scan the week before. My 1st mc the GP told me I should be thankful I wasn't further along (I was 12wk), I moved to another practice days later.

Thought I'd update this thread:

Had a private scan on 31st Oct, they deemed it 'pregnancy of unknown location' but the sonographer was confident there was no sign of pregnancy anywhere inside or outside of the uterus. Tests continued to get darker and CB digital also jumped to 2-3 weeks.

Finally got an appointment with the EPU on Thurs 4th Nov.
Turns out it's an ectopic pregnancy, they found the baby in my tube near my ovary during scan. I had the methotrexate injection on Thursday 4th Nov.
HCG levels were at 427.

Had bloods taken 4 days later and HCG has risen slightly to 430 but this is apparently normal and they are looking for a 15% drop by day 7.

I'll be going back for bloods on Thurs 11th Nov for the 7 day blood test.

Hello,

I'm in the 'waiting' period of finding out if I've had a misscarriage. My scan is on Monday at EPU.

I started spotting last Friday night extremely light at approx 5+6 and booked in for a private scan the next day (not sure why as it was quite early) a gestational sac was seen but no yolk or foetal pole. I was just a bit paranoid with the bleeding. The scan was quite uncomfortable and the spotting continued when we were out and about afterwards very lightly. I had a very slight period type pain but not bad at all because I drove myself to the shops to get bits and home with no problem at all. The minute I got in and went to the toilet I felt a clot come out and light bleeding then 1 hour later another clot and light bleeding. No pain but an extremely light cramp but barely anything. The bleeding completely stopped after that and it's now 4 days later and still no bleeding.

I've never had a misscarriage my son was born in 2021 after emergency c section.

Does this sound and look like a MC?
