Vaccine and Pregnancy

Hi all, I know there will be a billion posts re this but I want to know if anyone has had the vaccine then went onto conceive and have a healthy baby?

I am struggling to conceive after having a miscarriage in May. I have held off getting my vaccines incase it made things worse with conceiving. I then got covid last month although I am fine, it was a horrible experience like a bad flu!

I am thinking about getting the vaccine but then it's all the boosters on top of it. I'm just so scared it causes me to be infertile, cause another miscarriage or the baby have birth defects! I keep reading up from both sides and just can't make my mind up!

Thanks

There is no evidence of infertility and lots of evidence of healthy babies born to those who have been vaccinated

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I was already pregnant when I had my jabs but I have 2 close friends and a colleague who have all recently announced that they are pregnant, and I know that ALL of them had the vaccine. You don’t even need anecdotes like that – just look at the fact that every single day up and down the country women are getting pregnant. There’s no evidence it affects fertility so definitely get your jabs!

I had the first dose, got pregnant and then had the second dose. Both 12 and 20 week scans have been fine.

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage Biscuit
If it makes you feel any better about the vaccine I had my first Covid jab in May, got preggers in July and had the 2nd jab in July before I found out. Little one is healthy and normal from all scans and the midwives seemed genuinely relieved when they found out I had it.
This is just my experience though, would you feel comfortable asking your GP about it? Xxx

The vaccine is, as far as we can tell from the research, perfectly safe in pregnancy and there is no known mechanism by which it could cause infertility.

Some people can have temporary disruption of their menstrual cycles after vaccinations, and this has been observed for some people with the Covid vaccines but it is temporary.

Don't listen to the anti-vax fear mongering. Read the guidance from the experts, like the Royal College of O&G, RCGP and the NHS websites.

From a personal perspective, I was double-vaccinated before I conceived, have had my booster and as far as we can tell the pregnancy seems to be going absolutely fine.

Got pregnant 2 weeks after 2nd vaccine and So far so good (not 12 weeks yet but 10 week early scan after a history of MCs).

DiamondSnow · 24/10/2021 21:32

I conceived a week after my second dose (had been trying 6 months). I am 17 weeks now and all looking good so far.

Pitstop1986 · 24/10/2021 21:37

I had been trying to conceive for a few months. Had the vaccination just before AF and got pregnant the next cycle

neededafart · 24/10/2021 21:40

Could be complete chance in my case.

Trying for 6months ish.
Pregnant 3 weeks after 2nd vaccine.
Currently 10 weeks and saw little ones heart beat at a private scan last week.

The first vaccine delayed ovulation by 2 weeks.

Very sorry for your loss. Had vaccines in March/June, got pregnant at the start of August. My last baby took 18 months to conceive but was sadly stillborn at 37 weeks at the end of last year, this one just a couple of months so for us it didn't have a negative impact.

Helporhindrance07 · 24/10/2021 21:45

I had my vaccines at 24 & 32 weeks, and have given birth to a healthy baby. I did give birth 4 weeks early though for no apparent reason - I went overdue with DC1. Due to the nature of pregnancy we spend more time in doctors/hospitals than most other people so therefore will be potentially exposed to Covid more often so I am very glad I had mine.

StillUpSpooking · 24/10/2021 21:45

I conceived days after my second dose. Had my booster at 28 weeks and all fine on a growth scan a week later.

abbs1 · 24/10/2021 21:47

I had both AZ vaccines in Feb and May. Cycles messed up slightly for a few months after first vaccine delayed and bit heavier. Conceived month after 2nd jab. Now 20 weeks pregnant and baby looking healthy and happy so far.

fallhappy1 · 24/10/2021 21:47

Had both vaccines (May and then August) and then fell pregnant during first cycle. My Dsis is also pregnant and she's also fully vaccinated. I honestly don't think it affects fertility
