Did anyone have an early scan and were dated behind what they thought? Then caught back up at 12 week scan??

Thought I should be 8 weeks, but being told I am just under 7 (had early scan due to bleeding but all fine)

Has anyone had something similar, but then caught up at 12 week scan?

It can be really hard to measure baby in the early stages so your 12 week scan date will be the most accurate for EDD!

I had an early scan where I thought I was 7 weeks, measured 6+5 then had another at what I thought was 9+5 and was 10+2 🥰

@babyboybluex thank you! I'm hoping it will change by my 12 week scan!

I went for a 7 week scan last week based on last period start date and was told the baby was much smaller around 5.5 - bit worrying at first but then when I went through my ovulation dates & varying cycle dates the doctor was much more relaxed about it and told me actually that is accurate based on all of that. Going for another scan on the 1st to make sure all is on track. It’s my 2nd pregnancy and I do remember on my first being told he was smaller than my dates too but all caught up as it went along

They put me ahead of what I thought at my 7 week scan but by 12 weeks I was further behind. I think it’s so small at that point it can be so hard to tell depending exactly what day you go

I measured 6 days behind at my 7 week scan, 3 days ahead at the 12 week scan (I know exactly when I ovulated) - so a 9 day swing for me. They said it's completely normal given how small everything is.

Think measured about four days behind at my 8 week scan then one week ahead at my 12

Our twins were dated 6 days behind lmp on an early scan but caught up by their dating scan.
I had a pregnancy dated 6 days behind lmp July last year and miscarried a week after the scan.
So it can go either way. We've had a new baby since the last mc and waited until dating scan with her, dates were moved forward 4 days from lmp.

Hi, I went for a scan at 6+4 & I have 2 measurements from that day. In one the baby measured so tiny (CRL 3.1 mm) & it says GA OOR i.e. they can't determine the gestational age. Few seconds later they could get a better measurement (CRL 5.0 mm) & the baby measured just about 6+0 weeks. At 12 weeks scan baby measured about 12 weeks. I had a private scan at 14 weeks & the baby was 14 by the measurement of the head & 14+2 by the measurement of the stomach.

It's really hard to get measurements at an early stage. A lot depends on the sonographer, the visibility on the day, the position of the baby etc.

So dont' worry too much

All the best

I was dated 2 weeks behide at my early scan. I was sure of my dates so couldn't understand why it was so out. By my 12 week I was 1 week behide. I think its really common. My daughter was born at 40+1 after going into labour on my due date.

Reassuring to read this thread, even though it's a few months old! Hope you are all doing OK now and progressing nicely?!
I'm currently measuring 9/10 days behind and I'm driving myself mad with worry. Part of me wishes I'd never had the early scan as I'd be non the wiser about the size! Technology can be amazing... And terrifying!

Me! Had a scan at what I thought was 7+5 but they said around 6+5 then at 12 week scan I was actually 13 weeks and due date went back to exactly what I thought from ov.

strawberrysummer19 · 23/01/2022 17:19

Yes me, I had a scan at 6+4 measuring spot on
Then my 8 week scan I was measuring a week behind at 7 weeks which really worried me even though my nurse said it was normal
9 week scan measured on the dot
Just had my 12 week scan at 13+1 and measuring on the dot
