38w worried about baby changing position a lot

I'm 38w and worrying that my baby still seems to be changing position easily. Sometimes I'm certain he is transverse, sometimes diagonal and sometimes head down. He was transverse all the way to 30 weeks, I distinctly remember him turning because it was suddenly way more comfortable.

Between 30 weeks and my 34 week appointment my baby leapt from 50th to 90th centile. Midwife also commented that there was a lot of fluid and I was measuring 35 weeks.

At my 36 week appointment midwife commented that she wasn't that sure about his position and said it felt like he was bobbing around in there a lot. She then decided actually he was head down, just very low. I was also measured 38 weeks.

When I'm in bed he almost always feels transverse or diagonal, but annoyingly everytime I've been to the midwives he has been head down.

Do I need to mention this to someone? Just worried about going into labour with him transverse.

Yes definitely mention it. You need to have a scan to confirm baby's position. Ring your midwife team, say you're concerned and ask for a second opinion. I know someone recently who had a baby who kept changing position, each midwife appt from 36 weeks she was sent for a scan & kept in hospital at 39 weeks for constant monitoring. Lots of luck to you!!

Definitely mention it. I went into labour with my daughter who was transverse (didn't know until about 17 hours in). Ended in a very long labour and an emcs.

Thank you for replying @masha17 and @Chanel05 I think I will call midwife tomorrow and ask about it. My next appointment isn't until 39 weeks as they couldn't fit me in, so I think i'll need a second opinion before then.

All I can feel is two hard lumps either side of my bellybutton, so I can't imagine thats head down.

I spoke to my midwife today who didn't seem concerned at all about baby's position changing. She said they do this sometimes, especially when theres a lot of fluid and seeing as I went to 42 weeks last time, there is probably plenty of time until baby arrives. I have an appointment on Thursday and she said it will be checked again then.

Felt a bit fobbed off to be honest!
