Pregnancy of unknown location

i, I’m new to this group but feel like I needed to join to ask some questions that I’m worrying about.

I went for a scan Thursday and also an internal. They couldn’t find anything so said it was pregnancy if unknown location. They took my HCG levels which came back around 440. I went back today to have them done again and just waiting for the results. When I had the ultrasound they said that my lining was thick. So far I haven’t had any bleeding or pain. Just wondering if anyone has had the same before and continued with a healthy pregnancy. From my first day of last period it works out I am around 5 week. However doing a digital test on Monday this stated 2-3 weeks. And I believe my date of conception was the 1st. I’ve suffered miscarriages in the past so I’m worrying a bit now.

TIA x

Hey, hope you are OK. The uncertainty is the worst and hopefully when you have the results it'll make you feel a bit more positive.

I had a pregnancy of unknown location in July, like you they took my bloods twice 48h apart and they doubled. I went for a scan a week later and I seen a baby with a HB. I'm now 17 weeks.

Stay positive and I'm sending you a hug. The waiting is the worst xx

I wouldn’t worry unnecessarily. I think technically all pregnancies are of unknown location until you’re a bit further on, as the sac is simply too small to be seen in anyone. Ectopic pregnancies are pretty rare. Fingers crossed that the HCG results are positive news. X

At 5 weeks it can be really hard to see anything on a scan - even at 6 or 7 weeks it can be tricky sometimes. It could simply be too early to see anything yet. Do you have a follow-up scan arranged?

The digital tests don't measure dates the same as healthcare professionals do, so don't worry about that. 2-3 weeks on a digital test means your hCG level is consistent (on that test) with having conceived 2-3 weeks ago (ie, egg and sperm met and implantation occurred around then). Healthcare professionals date pregnancies from your last period, which is usually around 2 weeks prior to ovulation and therefore prior to actual conception. So, dates of 5 weeks according to your cycle and 2-3 according to a digital test are actually pretty consistent.

Hopefully your hCG blood tests will show a good rate of increase - keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you for your replies! I have just had a phone call from the hospital and I have a scan booked for Friday but they didn't tell me my levels. I'm only guessing if they are wanting to scan me then it must be good news?

Thinking positive about it all x
