I had a gender scan at 16+4 and now I’m worried it might not be correct , there is no reason I suspect it not to be it’s just in my head 🤦🏻‍♀️ What do you guys think x

Those white lines are the ovaries and uterus. It’s called the hamburger and is the giveaway for a girl.

Doesn't the hamburger refer to the labia in a potty shot?

It's pretty low-res, OP. The one we had with my DD was much, much clearer than that so if I were you I wouldn't be painting anything pink just yet (tbh I never painted anything pink anyway, but you get what I mean).

StripeyBadger · 22/10/2021 19:42

I was always told when having ultrasounds it was the ovaries. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Either way, I had those lines and have had three girls. Didn’t have them with my son.

Looks nothing like DS's potty shot so I'd say yes, you're having a girl

olivehater · 22/10/2021 19:43

White lines represent the labia not ovaries and uterus. I wouldn’t like to sex from that pic alone but if the sonographer wrote that pretty sure they are happy with what they saw. I prefer to sex from a sagital view ( length ways ) at that gestation. But they prob did that too.

Very much opposite to my DS potty shot

OP, I was convinced I was having a boy withy second as everything was so different to the previous pregnancy. When the sonographer said 'girl' I still didn't believe her and booked another private scan!

I have 2 DDs Grin

I think I want it to true so much that I’m worrying it’s not and because the image isn’t the clearest, we wanted the sonographer to write down the gender so we could look on our own , so during the scan he asked us to close our eyes , they felt like they were shut for a while so was obviously having a good look , he didn’t say anything so didn’t raise any concerns about not seeing properly or anything , and I’m wondering if the live footage looked better than the image

Well, at the 20 week scan it'll be easier to tell as baby will be more well developed. Most mistakes that happen do happen based on a 16 week scan, because the earlier you go the harder it is to tell.

My advice? Hold off on the sex reveal party and get it confirmed at the 20 week scan.

olivehater · 22/10/2021 20:34

Yup they only do it at 16 weeks to beat the nhs to it and get you to part with your money. It’s not the best time!

SundayTwizzle · 22/10/2021 20:48

I had the 3 lines on my scan too and DD is definitley a girl. We had a backup boys name just in case though because I heard they do get it wrong fairly often!
