I’m 8 weeks and started having this brown discharge/spotting this morning. It’s there every time I wipe. Managed to take 3 pictures (sorry for the detailed pictures)

Please advice. What is this? Shall I be worried? Never had this discharge before

This looks exactly the same as when my period starts but I haven’t had my period for 2 months.

Looks like dried / old blood rather than fresh blood but other than that I have no idea.

I'd see if it carries on tomorrow and if it does speak to a doctor. When's your booking In appointment with midwife?

doodledeedum · 21/10/2021 14:04

Can you call a midwife or maybe even your local early pregnancy unit?

To ME it looks like old blood. Which wouldn't worry me too much personally BUT I would still check it out and nobody hear will alleviate your concerns nor can they medically advise so just give someone a call to discuss, xxx

Hi @doodledeedum and @doodledeedum thank you for your replies.

I have spoken to midwife who has referred me to EPU but they don’t have an appointment till Monday. The spotting has been there all day every time I wipe. This is gonna be the longest 4 days. I’m so nervous ☹️

Oh I'm sorry that is a long wait..,, I hope you're ok... keep us posted - 🤞🏼

@K2012
I know people to have this and be fine they say it can be norm around 8 weeks as when you would have your period.

But I have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp and that how they have all started. Don't want to scare you. But in my experience it can go either way. Hopefully yours is just old blood leaving your body.

K2012 · 21/10/2021 20:27

Hi @Babyghirl Thank you for your reply and sorry to hear about your losses.

Hope you don’t mind me asking how long did you have this same spotting for and did it turn in to red discharge after?

I had this at 8 weeks, it stopped after a couple of days and everything was fine. Good that you’re getting checked though x

MaizeBlouse · 21/10/2021 20:32

Sorry that you're in this position OP
I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago which started with brown discharge. The next day it turned to red blood and I then bled for about 5 days. I had 2 DCs before this mc and I didn't bleed in either pregnancy. I went to the EPU and they confirmed a mc. But on the other hand my friend recently had a lot of bleeding and was sure she was miscarrying but had a scan an was amaze that all was fine. She is now 16weeks.
Good luck Flowers

Viviennemary · 21/10/2021 20:35

Brown is usually meant to be OK. Bright red then it was sign of an impending miscarriage. (not absolutely always though) Thats what I was told.

Foolsrule · 21/10/2021 20:40

I had this until 20 weeks with one pregnancy. All fine, baby born full term. Sometimes bodies do weird things so please don’t assume this will mean the worst.

K2012 · 21/10/2021 20:43

Thank you for all the replies. This spotting/discharge started around 10am this morning. There’s not been any red blood just brown like in the pictures all day.

I’m really shi*** (sorry for swearing) it and have been toilet 5 times today ☹️

I really hope it works out ok for you. I have similar but more of a browny pink at 7 weeks and a scan at the EPU tomorrow which I feel could go either way. You hear of so many people who have been fine and others where it wasn’t a positive outcome. It’s hard to know what to think. Really hope it’s good news for you on Monday
