Big and Breech!

Hi all!

Just after some similar stories of a big and breech baby!

I'm 36 weeks and had a growth scan yesterday.. baby is measuring 7lb7oz and on the 96th centile and breech. She's also got long legs as her dad is 6ft6 so they've said the chances of her turning now are pretty slim.

I have a presentation scan on the 30th and they've said they'll do an EVC to try and turn her, due to past trauma I have refused the EVC so what would be the next step if she's still breech at the presentation scan?

I also have another growth scan in 2 weeks and if she's still measuring on the 96th centile and the right way they'll induce me at 40 weeks but if she's measuring above it they'll induce me at 39 weeks but surely they won't do this is she's still breech? I had so much information thrown at me at once I couldn't form any questions in my head 😂

Of course I'll get more information at the presentation scan I'm just wondering what your experiences were ☺️ x

Turning is not impossible. Our twin one turned breech between 32+5 & 36+5wk and they were 8lb 5oz and 8lb 11oz bang on 38wk so that shows they have more room than you think. Try all the exercises on spinning babies but be prepared for an elcs if still breech, never known them to induce a breech baby as it's high risk for complications.
Our most recent was measuring above 97th centile at 35+6wk (est 7lb 12oz) and came out 10lb 15oz at 38+6, had a cs after over 20hrs labour (started to get scar rupture). I was booked for an elcs the next day anyway, I didn't want to go with induction as that would double the risk of scar rupture.

Good luck at your next scan, I hope baby plays ball for you.

@Chelyanne

I'll definitely read up on spinning haha
They'd only induce me if she was to turn so they wouldn't induce me if she was breech because of the risks like you say.
She's been this way up for as long as I can remember so I don't think she's going to miraculously turn in a week but we'll see!
With her femur measuring big they said the chances of her being physically able to get the traction to turn is unlikely but again.. the human body is a wonderful thing so we shall see what happens x

No real advice but I’ve read acupuncture can help turn a baby, or bouncing on ball, or scrubbing floors.

I got really annoyed by everyone saying my breech would turn! He didn’t. I also didn’t want him to, I had a date for an ELCS after refusing the EVC. Had the section at 39 weeks. He’s just had his scan to check his hips after being scrunched up in my womb but there are no problems.

@WheelieBinPrincess

I know what you mean! She's been this way up for months and months.. I don't see how she's miraculously going to turn in a week. I'm hoping for en elective anyway just because of her size and weight xx

No one can say they will definitely turn but mine both did, ds was my first and turned at term and he was over 4.5kg/10lb at birth.
It’s not impossible.
Dd was breech and deeply engaged from 24 weeks right up to 37 weeks before she turned.
