Hi

Just wondering how many weeks you were when you got the letter through for your 12 week scan and was the date for it a few weeks after you received it?

I'm 12 weeks Friday and still not received mine. I heard it can take two weeks from your booking appointment which means I could be waiting till Tuesday next week.

Only problem is I go away that Thursday and not to return till following week which will nearly put me at 14 weeks?!

I spoke to my midwife at my booking appointment who said she will get it in before I go away but can't see that happening now?

Just really wanted it nearer 12 weeks as I've had two previous loses and would really help this crazy anxious worried women I've turned into.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I'm not sure anyone can really answer your question on here though as all health care trusts work differently. My midwife booked my 12 week scan during my booking in appointment.
I would call your midwife office and ask them this question.
Good luck and enjoy your holiday!

Congratulations🥰

When I found out I was pregnant I was under the recurrent miscarriage clinic, and had a scan at 7 weeks past LMP once I had that scan I then self referred myself to the hospital via a booking line and I had my 12 week scan appointment through about 3 weeks ago now and I have the scan tomorrow where I'll be 12+4. I would definitely ring your chosen hospital and explain the situation x

Not sure if it's the same for you by my sisters can see all their appointments on their badger notes or something? Is it on your app?

SickAndTiredAgain · 20/10/2021 16:57

It’s different in different areas. Here they don’t send a letter, they call you a day or two after you booking appointment and arrange it with you, some areas you have to call and book, others send letters but I don’t think you’ll be able to get a standard answer. I’d call your midwife (or a central number for the team if you have that) and ask.

That sounds like it could be cutting it a bit fine- could you ring the hospital where you'll be having your scan and ask to see if you're in the system with a date? If you explain what you've said here I'm sure they'd tell you if they had the date and maybe help you out if you weren't on there yet.

I know in theory you could ring your midwife but with how busy they are you may as well cut out the middle woman, it's not like you're only 9 weeks and phoning them up to find out.

To answer your question I got the letter for my scan about a week after my booking appointment but I was quite lucky and got booked before I was 9 weeks. The hospital actually called me in too early (by dates) so I had to go back for a second 12 week scan anyway, although I had to go through PALS to get that as they tried to fob me off. Admin is not strong in my trust...

Thanks for all your responses. I did assume it may vary for different trusts just wanted a rough idea as I don't like to be a pest so didn't want to call them up looking a bit to eager.

I checked my pregnancy notes today on my app but couldn't see a scan date on there unfortunately Sad

I will hang fire and see if it comes tomorrow and if not I'll try bypass the midwives and call hospital.

Just a bit of an annoyance that the midwife at my booking appointment said she will get it booked before my holiday as it's the 'least they can do' after the treatment I received during my last miscarriage. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't possible just wish she didn't say she could! Plus need a bit of notice so I can let work know 🙄 also want the NT screening so as you said cutting it a bit fine!!!

I personally wouldn't wait. I'd call up tomorrow morning first thing. It's not like you can stop time with your pregnancy, time is precious

I had my booking at 10 weeks, within 2 days of that appt I had an email log on for my local hospital where I could log in and see the letter they had sent, that turned up about 4 days later x

I would definitely call your midwife or hospital where scan will be to chase up x

BlueberrySugar · 20/10/2021 22:17

I wouldn't wait either.

My sister left it a bit late to register with the midwife around 10 weeks I think. They managed to get her in early and if they don't then contact PALS.

I had to contract PALS about my 20 week scan. I emailed them late at night. Following morning I had an email from them at about 5am and head of midwifery phone me at 9am for a scan the following morning.

WJK00 · 22/10/2021 15:54

Thanks for all your advice. Finally got through to the hospital today to be told I am not into the records and no referral received.

Called the midwives number who said 'oh that's not good' took my name and said she'll call me back. Oh surprise surprise still waiting for a call back.

Not happy with the treatment I have received at all. I expected more from a team I am supposed to trust throughout this journey.

I had nothing but awful treatment with my miscarriages and had awful experience since I registered my pregnancy and now this. I'm feel rather let down.
