The name may come to you when the baby is born. I love the name Matilda and Francesca.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 10/12/2007 11:41

Celeste is lovely. What about:
Adele
Beatrice
Hazel
Charlotte

BibiJesus · 10/12/2007 11:43

Apparently the done thing is to steal a friend's name...

I'm not bitter.

Sorry, that's not helpful is it? Astrid is my fave from your list - but wait until you see your new dd and see what name suits her, there's no rush - a name is for life, you've got to get it right. Good luck.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 10/12/2007 11:47

I love Francesca but it is my sisters name

Matilda is another favourite but when discussing names with people lots of people look at me very oddly when I mention it!!

I really want to love it, would hate to have a 'good enough' name for her - makes me almost cry but then that is the crazy hormones flooding through my body today!!!

callum did not have a name for 2 days. we knew he was a boy from 24 weeks, but we coulsn't agree on one. We found one after he was born

becklesparkle · 10/12/2007 11:59

I know just how you are feeling Pecka as I am in exactly the same position!

We love George for a boy.

But for a girl???????

Evie is probably top of the list but I wouldn't say I really love it and although DH does really love it he still keeps forgetting which name we have semi-agreed on!

Love most of the names on your list, others which I think are great but can't use for various reasons are...

Georgina
Hannah
Lois
Harriet
Alyssa
Phoebe

We weren't completely sure with DS2 either and only decided a few days before he was born. When he arrived we knew we'd picked the right one of the bunch as it suited him!

Bodkin · 10/12/2007 12:07

I think it is easier to choose a name once they are born. We didn't have THE girl's name sorted either. but after she was born at home, and the three of us lay in bed that night (her and DP slumbering peacefully - me still awake and sniffing her head ) the right name just seemed to come to me. Seagulls were whirling around overhead, it was just starting to get light and it was so peaceful, I decided that Isla was perfect.

However, i've since realised that it doesn't sound so great pronounced with a Dorset accent (where we live) - Oylerrrrrr but I still love it!

And if you can't find THE name even after they're born, then after six weeks you end up with some kind of compromise name you still think doesn't sound quite right at 2 years +. Frustrating...

Don't worry too much just now it might just come to you. That's what happened to me.

I love the name Eva, (DD2's name) her middle name is Rose.

DD1 is Emma Grace. I sometines wish I had just called her Grace as it suits her.

You have a lovely list I would just take it in your hospital bag and see if any of them fit!

Good luck

HayleyandRoo · 10/12/2007 13:23

We're calling ours Libby. We love it because it's soft and girly.

I love Nancy, was our agreed girl's name but DH seems to have gone off. Am keeping it on the Maybe pile in case he changes his mind.
If you can't find the name, you just have to work out which one of you is most passionate about their favourite. I gave in with DS as DH had always wanted a little boy called Noah (mind you I only gave in about 3hrs after his birth ).

PoinsettiaBouquets · 10/12/2007 17:42

And how about Cora Celeste?

NumptyMum · 10/12/2007 17:49

AS others have said it might come to you when baby is born, if you can resist the pressure (my DH's colleague managed to hold off naming DS for 3 days!!). We have DS, but for girls name I liked the following:
Kathleen
Isabel (or Ishbel) but see you have that...
Bess
Shona
Sacha
Rebecca (but best friend called that too!)
Iola (means 'colour of the dawn cloud').

Or Marni?
Matilda could be Tilly.

Orchide · 10/12/2007 17:49

i love violet, if we ever have another DD that'll be at the top of my list! also like...

Emilia
Imogen
Poppy
