Feelings of butterflies and heart palpitations for a few seconds feel jumpy

Hi everyone
I am 10 weeks and 6days pregnant.
Since yesterday out of nowhere around 11pm I started feeling heart palpitations for a few seconds and jumpy at every noise while laying in bed trying to sleep. A feeling like I’m nervous. I have no idea what it is, I managed to get a very disturbed sleep and woke up feeling the same today, like I’m on edge! I am not stressed at all in fact so happy to be pregnant. I don’t suffer from anxiety also. Is this normal? Please share

It's just a biological response to your pregnancy. Because I did IVF I found that high levels of progesterone makes me extra anxious (I'm already an anxious person). That may be true for you as well but heart palpitations are completely normal so it may not be connected to hormone levels or even anxiety at all. When your heart starts palpitations (it's not really it's just you paying more attention to your heart and experiencing it differently), your body goes on high alert, so the jumpiness in relation to your surroundings is also logical. If you never had palpitations I can understand it really puts you on edge- so that also seems normal. But just discuss it with your midwife or doctor to make sure. I always have had heart palpitations and now even more during pregnancy. I found that if I cough (in a weird fake way) it disappears immediately. They still make me feel weird though. X
