Hi,
I had a frozen embryo transfer at the end of September and have pretty much had spotting from the word go, despite getting a positive test result. I’m using progesterone pessaries 3 x daily and also taking estrogen, and yesterday started to get very watery bleeding light pink but heavy. I have no idea what to think and have my fingers crossed it’s erosion/ bleeding from the constant pessary use. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s so difficult to contemplate a MC when you can’t get pregnant naturally.
X

you poor thing, i understand the worry. I havent experienced the same thing but have had mc in the past. Just wishing you luck, can you speak to someone at the clinic?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/10/2021 08:58

I'm 5+6 with after a fet and I know the anxiety you're feeling, it's next level !
Call your clinic. When is your scan booked in for ?

Mar3030 · 20/10/2021 09:00

I have a call scheduled with nurse at the clinic today, but as I only registered with a new GP 2 days ago due to moving house I can’t speak or see a doc. Contemplated just going to A&E but it’s not really an emergency (although it feels like it to me) x

Honestly I just want to hide in bed till due date and hope for the best lol.
My scan is in 2 weeks so I would be 7+3 at that point. They have told me bleeding with pessaries is quite normal but the bleeding is changing so obviously I’m so anxious. X

@Mar3030 could you call your new gp and ask to speak to a midwife ? You know your own body and if you don't think this is down to the pessaries then you should push to be seen. Sorry you're going through this. My anxiety is on high alert everyday. It's so tough isn't it.

MadamMaltesers · 20/10/2021 09:12

Is it the clinic that did the transfer? i would wait for the call and just tell the nurse everything and hopefully she could refer you to epu maybe not sure about under 6 weeks but if all else fails i would go to a+e because your bleeding heavily.

Mar3030 · 20/10/2021 09:12

@whatagloriousthingtobe yea I think If im not comforted by my chat with the clinic nurse today il try that. And if no luck I might have to go to A&E maybe that can check my bloods. Not sure I can wait like this for 2 weeks.

@MadamMaltesers
Yes it’s the clinic where Iv been having my fertility treatment. Hoping for a ref but A&E otherwise I think. Bed day today for a cry and a mope.

Has your IVF clinic done blood tests to check your HCG levels? I'd expect them to do repeat blood tests to see if your levels are rising.
The stress is hard to deal with, take it slowly. I don't know statistics but some people say bleeding is more likely after a transfer than in a natural pregnancy.
Keeping everything crossed for you. 💐

Mar3030 · 20/10/2021 09:25

@Aranciata
No they only did my day 11 HCG which was strong positive at 152
They havnt offered anymore but I’m wondering if today they might suggest I get one, or perhaps il get one more locally privately for peace of mind.

Hey op,
I had exactly the same following an FET, DS is currently 3.
The spotting lasted until 8 weeks.
Tell the nurse today on the phone, they got me in for a scan (I didn't see much so don't over think this scan) they couldn't find where it was coming from as everything looked fine and as it should so we put it down to the medication.
Pessaries can irritate the cervix and cause spotting.

MadamMaltesers · 20/10/2021 09:31

@Mar3030 yes take it easy today and hopefully you will get some reassurance from the call. x

eurochick · 20/10/2021 09:42

When I had ivf I read that bleeding is more common in ivf pregnancies. I bled for 3-4 weeks in the first trimester.

You can usually use the pessaries as suppositories which might help if cervical irritation is the issue.

@CocaColaTruck1
Hey, congrats to you that’s lovely news. Thanks for the reassurance, my clinic told me to go to A&E, not sure what they can do this early but fingers crossed x

@eurochick that’s interesting to know, thank you. I read that oral progesterone isn’t as good so don’t really want to switch to that

@Mar3030 hope everything is okay

CocaColaTruck1 · 20/10/2021 15:30

Hope everything went ok

Mar3030 · 20/10/2021 16:28

Hi All,

Unfortunately I had miscarried. My HCG was 5 so must have lost it very soon after becoming pregnant. We have one more embryo frozen, so let’s hope the next one is a keeper. Might take some time and some counselling before starting again x

@Mar3030 I'm so sorry to hear that. Take some time for yourself 💕
