Hi!
I'm brand new to mumsnet and hoping to use this as a support network.
I am a mum of one and also have DCDA twins on the way. I'm 13wks and I feel like my bump is massive already. I know you can get a bump earlier with a second pregnancy but it's making me feel so fat and horrible I dread to think what the 3rd trimester is going to bring I look around 30wks already!
Has anyone else experienced this with multiple pregnancy or even single pregnancy? I need to know I'm not alone here!

My first pregnancy was a Dcda twin pregnancy, I started showing around 13 weeks and just ballooned from there.

I guess now isn’t the time to add I measured over 50 weeks at 32 weeks?

Hello!! I'm 17+1 with DCDA twins and I feel massive too!
I've got my next scan in a couple of weeks so I'm not sure how I'm measuring up but I outgrew a lot of my smaller clothes pretty quickly.
I think we just have to take each day as it comes and remember there's two little ones fighting for space in there!

If it helps although I was big with my twin pregnancy ( twins 6lb and 7lb at 38 weeks !) The bump sat differently, I couldn't drive my car at 38 weeks with singleton as couldn't fit behind wheel and reach pedals, I drove myself to my pre op appointment pre caesarian at 37 weeks !

Thank you, I guess we don't have much choice so just taking each day as it comes is good advice Smile Currently cycling through the same 3 outfits because that's all I fit into currently!

One thing I'm hoping is that I can still drive my car! And wow what amazing weights for your twins Grin

My second pregnancy was DCDA twins and I was in maternity wear by 9 weeks. I looked full term by 24 weeks. Don't do what I did and Google twin bump photos - I did and I was left absolutely bloody petrified of how big I might get! I'm pretty petite and only 5ft2
As it was lots of doctors commented about how neat my bump was but I did have one twin half the size of the other - and looking at other pregnant women I'd definitely say my bump wasn't as big as some of theirs

I found it physically hard and was pretty much on sofa rest from 20 weeks my resting heart rate went from 67 to over 100 - Carrying 2 babies put a lot of strain on my bump and hips and I'd be in a lot of pain if I walked or stood for too long. I was still doing short car journeys up until around 28 weeks but I stopped long car journeys of a couple of hours or more around 24 weeks. Thanks to covid I worked from home the entire pregnancy which hugely helped as I was exhausted a lot of the time

I have definitely googled twin bumps and they don't seem to be very big compared to mine at this stage! Oops! Feel like a whale already! I'm currently working part time but finding it very strenuous already and thinking maybe I should start resting more as I'm only going to get bigger Shock My BMI is high anyway so this could be a contributing factor so it's making me feel huge, I have to remember I'm growing two humans and that's beautiful in itself- I shouldn't worry how I look too much as long as they are healthy x

Congratulations, twins are awesome. Try to stay active as long as you can.

Yep, twin bumps get big fast.
Our twins are 6 now but I was huge with them as they were 8lb 5oz & 8lb 11oz bang on 38wk. It was tough being so big but I still managed to look after 3 kids and a hubby with a broken leg (did it when I was 26wk) right up until the day they were born. I was left with bad diastasis recti, horrid back pain and spd continued for years after too. They were breech and transverse so elcs. Eventually got myself in the gym and repaired my body then had a big singleton (10lb 5oz @ 38+6) lol, I did continue powerlifting throughout the latest one.

Chelyanne · 20/10/2021 17:16

That's 10lb 15oz not 5oz

Hi @Victoria1992 I'm 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow with DCDA twins. I'm absolutely huge! I thought I was huge at 13 weeks, but now I look back and I'm tiny! Any questions feel free to reach out!

Victoria1992 · 21/10/2021 18:27

@Victoria1992 I'm 32 weeks with DCDA and I'm not half as big as I thought I would be when I found out it was twins. I did a lot of twins bump googling and was terrified. I dont know where they're hiding in there but everyone carries different and they are estimated around 4lb each just now
