I'm 33 weeks with baby #2. My daughter was born early following complications at 34 weeks. I know that this fact is the main reason behind it, but I am convinced I won't make it to 40 weeks.

Baby is big and incredibly active. I'm unbelievably uncomfortable and getting more so. In the last week, my braxton hicks have really ramped up, I'm getting lower back and cervical pain and (sorry, TMI), getting mucus by the bucketload.

I know that these are all pretty standard symptoms for this stage in pregnancy but I've just got a feeling that he's on his way sooner than expected. I don't put much stock in my powers of intuition, but I'd love to know whether anyone else felt like this, and what the outcome was.

Inevitably, me being convinced that he'll be early means that I'll get to 42 weeks and will have to be induced, right? Grin

I don't have anything to add but very curious, as I feel the same way with my first so interested to follow to hear other people's contributions!

FTEngineerM · 18/10/2021 11:04

Yes both times.

No both times.

DressedUpAtAnIvy · 18/10/2021 11:04

No both times.
Yes both times.

Hotpinkangel19 · 18/10/2021 11:05

Yes! And 11 days late!

AMistakePlusKeleven · 18/10/2021 11:07

Yes all three times. No all three times.

October2020 · 18/10/2021 11:09

Yes and 32weeks. But I have a uterine abnormality so it was likely.

Sorryichangedmyusername · 18/10/2021 11:09

Had my 1st baby 31 weeks.
Was convinced throughout 2nd pregnancy that i would be early again. Even my mw thought that. Was induced at 39 weeks. So doesnt always happen.

Mybobowler · 18/10/2021 11:16

Oooh interesting! If anything, seems to be an inverse correlation. I'll stop panicking about how unprepared we are then..!

I absolutely did not see my DS coming at all and he ended up 6 days early. So not super early but was so sure I still had a few weeks left at least!

Kdubs1981 · 18/10/2021 21:18

I had a very strong feeling my first baby would be early. I went 8 days over 😆

FartnissEverbeans · 18/10/2021 23:13

I felt like I’d be early. I just couldn’t see myself going to 40 weeks. I went at 37!

I’m feeling the same this time

DramaAlpaca · 18/10/2021 23:15

Yes with my third DC. I was right, but only by a few days so not sure it counts really Grin

Helporhindrance07 · 18/10/2021 23:19

With DC1 I knew I’d be late and I was. With DC2 I had a feeling I’d be early and I was, but much much earlier than I’d anticipated (4 weeks early!) I’d had no medical reason to think that I’d be early either.

Snog · 18/10/2021 23:21

My colleague had her baby 4 weeks early so I thought mine would be 3-4 weeks early 😆
Reality - 8 days late

RagzReturnsRebooted · 18/10/2021 23:21

Yes, convinced of it as my Mum had all her babies early. Mine were 10, 7 and 5 days late!

DeadMetal · 18/10/2021 23:23

yes first and only dc due 6 june but i predicted 27 may
baby arrived 22 may just after midnight after a 2hr labour (48 minutes active labour on my notes)

ImJustMum · 18/10/2021 23:27

Yes with dc1, i said it from the start, bags were done and sorted by 30 weeks, he was born at 34+5. Said the same again with DC2, born at 35+1. found i had a bicornuate uterus aswell although the severity of it was never into

Internetio · 18/10/2021 23:29

All of mine have been early, dd was due end of March, looked at the calendar and said ‘Sod’s law she’ll be a leapie’ (29th Feb) 20.35pm on the leap year day she made her rapid appearance at 36ish weeks Grin

Strokethefurrywall · 18/10/2021 23:34

Yes and yes. DS1 born after 37 weeks, DS2 born at 38 weeks.

Fizzl · 18/10/2021 23:42

Yes absolutely convinced baby was going to make an early appearance. Born 41+4 after being induced 😑

Areyouboredyet · 19/10/2021 00:35

Yep, every baby in my side of the family (including myself and my DSis) were early with the exception of 1. My Dtwins were born at 34+2 and I knew they would be early so had my bag packed and ready weeks before.

Mybobowler · 20/10/2021 16:04

So interesting to hear these experiences! I'm stil convinced - something has shifted this week. I'll report back and see whether my (famously unreliable) intuition was correct!

Doje · 20/10/2021 16:17

Absolutely. I'm early everywhere, so of course my baby would be too. I was ready from 38 weeks. Every night I went to sleep I was utterly convinced I'd be waking in the early hours with labour pains.

He eventually made it into the world 17 days after my due date having been forcibly evicted (c-secton after failed induction).

Mammyofasuperbaby · 20/10/2021 16:30

Yes, both times.
Dc1 - I had a feeling that he would be early from 28 weeks when I started to feel something wasn't right. Countless hospital and midwife visits just to be told everything was fine. I actually has asymptomatic pre eclampsia and had my son at 33 weeks once they realised I was extremely ill.
Dc2 - I just knew most of the way through that he would be small and early. Cue my 35 week growth scan and he'd stopped growing so would be delivered bang on 37 weeks. Once he was here the peadiatrition shifted his dates to 36 weeks as he wasn't convinced that he was term and may have been just 35 weeks but we'll never know

Annie1290 · 20/10/2021 16:33

First baby born at 30+1 due to pre eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

Second baby currently hanging on in there at 35+5 despite high blood pressure again! Was convinced he would be here by now.
