I went for an early scan for pregnancy number two. I currently have a 6 yr old. At the scan we found out we are having twins 🙈.

I am super nervous and anxious now about what we are going to do. Is anyone else in the same situation or has gone through it.

Due 31/05/22

Congratulations! My twins are nearly 7, but I remember the shock very clearly. Do you know what type you’re having? If identical, they’re classed as full term at 36 weeks. Fraternal (ie separate sacs/placentas), then they’ll let you go to 38 weeks all being well!
Twins are awesome though. Daunting. But awesome!

I don't get as it was too early to tell (only 7week scan). I will find out more details at 12 week scan. It is a bit daunting especially with one already. 😳

I’m 15w with twins, I found out at 7w at an early scan. These will be our first and our only children due to our ages, however it took until about 12w to get my head round having two, especially as I’d always pictured myself as a mum of an only child!
I still don’t really believe that I’ll actually get them, I feel like we can’t possibly have been that lucky.
It has changed a lot of our plans. I won’t be going back to full time work for a long time as nursery for two near me is £2600 a month and my mum would have had one baby for a day but she’s really too old to have two, and two toddlers will only be worse. We’ll be converting the loft now too, so that they can each have a big bedroom and we can have a guest bedroom too.
We’re lucky that we can sort of afford this but it will be a very different sort of set up than we thought!

Hi! Me too! Currently just under 24 weeks pregnant with non identical twins. It's absolutely amazing. Any questions please reach out 🙂

Hey fellow expectant twin mum! I’m 29 weeks with DCDA twin girls. They’re our first. It’s been an exciting ride so far. I’m sure it’s not everyone’s experience but I’ve found my hospital to be amazing and the level of care so supportive when you’re having twins.

The Multiple births board on MN is great, and I found my local twins groups to be really supportive too as they have a WhatsApp group for expectant parents. Lots of areas have them so check online. Super helpful!

Twins Trust had been a great resource too.

Rrrob · 18/10/2021 23:26

My twins are 17 months. Hard work at the beginning but honestly, it’s so much fun. I’m far too soft and didn’t sleep train, so still only getting 5 hours a night…but otherwise they are amazing.
Join your local twins club, our twin whatsapp and playgroup is a lifesaver for me.

Congratulations and good luck.
We found out we were expecting twins at 7 weeks too, they're 6 now. Neither of them were planned so a huge shock to the system as we already had 3 (9, 4 & 2 when they were born), I wanted more but not for a bit longer. The pregnancy went well although physically tough on me as they were big girls and I carried them to 38wk (they're fraternal). It was exhausting physically and mentally but we survived and they've thrived. Twins are extra special and I'm so glad we have a set, tbh I'd have loved more twins. We have a 6th newborn atm, 10wk old.

I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with DCDA twins.

I already have 3DC the youngest of which will turn 4 just before the twins are due.

I am super nervous at having 2 babies at the same time but I’m equally as excited too.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

My twins are 20mths.

Nothing to add other than it's brilliant and congratulations!

Hi,

I just wanted to come on and say I'm 8 weeks and just found out I'm having twins. Extremely nervous as we already have a 14 month old daughter and was planning just one more child.
It's a lot to take in, I was completely speechless in the scan.

Hoping I will have got my head around it by the 12 week scan.

I was devastated

Devastated that you had twins??
hwp22 · 07/12/2021 16:36

Hello! I'm also expecting twins ( Fraternal) 16 weeks - DD 23rd May but been told will likely be around 4 weeks before then for induction / C-Section. Was absolutely shocked at an early scan when we were told there are two heartbeats!! 1st trimester nausea, sickness and exhaustion was Brutal! but feeling much better now. The AN care I have received so far has been brilliant - I can't fault it. xx

They thought I was having DCDA twins but consultant isn't 100% sure and thinks they maybe MCDA 🙈. I have received great care and hopefully will have an answer soon lol.

Sickness and tiredness is killing me but only 13 Weeks so fingers crossed it eases soon.

@Dino101 my nausea really improved at 13.5 weeks - hopefully you’ll be the same!
They are certain mine are DCDA but I guess they can’t always tell 100% in the early days - hope you get clarification soon as depending on the type might alter the care required I think!?
I’ve got quite a noticeable bump now at 16 weeks have you started to show yet?
Its a pretty overwhelming thing expecting twins but I also feel really blessed and can’t wait to meet them! Having a scan later this week so hope to find out if they are Bs / Gs Xx

I'm really hoping so, I can cope with most things but being or feeling sick isn't one of them 🤣. I have another scan this week so I'm hoping they can tell 🤞🏻.

Yes care will change slightly as if they are MCDA twins then have to have scans every two weeks 🙈.

Bet you can't wait to find out what they are.

I found the nausea & sickness completely draining - I felt sick pretty much all day & night for a few weeks!
Yes really excited and hope they are in a good position to see. But Tbh I just want to know they are both growing OK and healthy but will be the cherry on the top to find out!
Starting to feel quite real now and I know come January I need to start thinking about things like a double pram, cot etc etc xx

Hello. I am a bit isolated due to health issues and I was hoping to find a group online to talk to. I would love to have a zoom meeting with anyone who is interested. Covid has presented some issues, I just want to talk with those expecting twins.....when to buy clothes, any product advice ....
