Cord Ties - get dirty?

I'm really interested in using a fabric cord tie this time round as seem much more comfortable for baby.

But i didn't know about the following:

  • what happens if they get wee/poo on them??
  • if you bath baby and they get wet it surely isn't great to have a damp cord tie afterwards?

Cord ties/clamps are only on for a matter of days before the cord falls off so as long as you keep it out of the way when you're changing the baby then you should be OK.

Bathing wise, you don't tend to do a total immersing bath when they've still got their cord on anyway (as far as I remember) because you want the cord to dry out completely in order to fall off and not get infected. It's a cotton wool and warm water top and tail job.

I wish I'd had the foresight to use cord ties with my two births. If I get that far again I'm going to be making one.
