Hello, I've been a real worrier this pregnancy because of what happened last time and this evening I've started cramping. It's like lower abdominal and lower back, not severe but uncomfortable. Like I'm about to come on period. My hcg level the other day was really high but I'm so worried, is this cramping normal?

I believe period cramping in the first trimester is very normal. I had period style cramping all through the first trimester.

I remember cramping in the early stages too.

I’ve had cramping since I was 4 weeks pregnant (I’m now 8.5 weeks pregnant), it’s been pretty painful (like bad period pains) but my obstetrician says that it’s normal as long as it’s intermittent, not on one side, and there’s no bleeding.
I’m not in the UK so I’ve already had a scan and everything was totally normal.
