I'm 37+2 and For the past few nights I've been struggling to sleep only getting about 2 hours per night😭 I have unbearable itchiness starting from my neck/jawline the whole way down to my legs including my bump also. I actually feel as if my skin is crawling. I've tried everything you can think off too and not one thing works🥲

Without worrying you please speak with your midwife ASAP, itching is very common but in late pregnancy intense itching can be a sign of an issue with you liver.

I would call your maternity assessment unit tomorrow and get checked out as there is a liver condition in pregnancy which can cause itching.

Was just going to say the same. Information below:

Agree to mention it to your midwife...

On the other hand, this was me for easily 15 weeks and towards the end I used to sit in the bathroom scratching then sticking cold compresses on it

Urgh, I remember the itching well! It can be a normal thing, but do be aware it can be a sign of a problem with your liver so maybe let your midwife/gp know and see what they suggest?
In my case it was just "just" a hormonal thing. I remember my palms being on fire...I held onto ice cubes to try to drift off...
Sorry, no great advice but it disappeared instantly when I had the baby.

I had this, I think it was called obstetric collitis? Needs to be looked at ASAP. Also get some aqueous cream

Crumble012 · 16/10/2021 23:29

Try a wet flannel left in fridge in ziplock bag applied to areas or calamine lotion. Have a word with your midwife about whether you can take antihistamine (dr cleared me to take piriton but you should check). Also ask for a blood test to rule out cholestasis ( rate but serious illmess that causes itching). It could just be eczema induced by skin stretching, in which case a really good emollient will help (dr might also advise mild steroid cream if very bad). Hope it improves soon

Thanks so much ladies!! I was thinking it could have been OC but I wasn't sure because my feet and hands aren't actually too itchy, just the rest of my body😭 just want this baby out now lol I was also diagnosed with Gestational diabetes today too so everything is all up in the air x
