28 weeks & terrified

Earlier today we were moved from our maternity hospital to a neonatal specialist hospital. I’m currently 28+4, diagnosed with high blood pressure at 28 week midwife appointment and been admitted since. My bp is now under control but on ultrasound yesterday it was discovered baby weighs only 1lb 13oz.

Our new team want to take it day by day with twice daily fetal monitor and ultrasound every second day. We really need this little one to hang in there. It’s so hard to take this day by day and not try to look ahead to getting him to the milestone weeks.

That's so tough for you. The one thing I can say is not to take too much notice of growth scans. Only recently there was a thread on here about how inaccurate they are.

Thinking of you.

Thinking of you, all best wishes Flowers

Oh OP, very scary but also you are in the very best place for you both and you'll both be fine. Try to relax and do it think about relaxing things. Maybe download one if those apps like headspace. Big hugs.

You are exactly where you need to be and where baby needs you to be OP. Sending you relaxing vibes for a calm weekend. You and baby will get through this.
Are they giving you any steroid injections?

fancyfrogs · 16/10/2021 06:49

You are in the best hands I promise. I had my son at 28 weeks and I know how terrifying it is. Try and stay calm and keep your mind off things (definitely keep away from Google though I know it's hard). Thinking of you, hope little one stays put a bit longer x

Thank you everyone. I know the best I can do is rest and sleep and tears do not help my bp.

@SouthwestSis Yes, I've had for the past 2 days.

If your on fb join parents of premmies uk, loads of mum and dads that have gone through it. I had my first at 28 weeks. Look into steroids and magnesium. The hospital should hopefully send one of the nicu doctors down to speak to you in case you can't not make it to term. Everyday counts try and rest and look after you self, think about taking up a hobby to keep ur hands busy while ur in hospital as it's boring as hell being on the ward.

Good point about doing something. How about painting by numbers? I find it simultaneously relaxing and addictive!! You could do a pic for baby's room when he/she is older. Tons on Amazon.

Baby was safely delivered last night weighing 800g, a little warrior that is doing so well!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby, nicu can be a long and hard journey, remember to look after your self too. I'm here if you have any questions x

MyOtherProfile · 17/10/2021 10:10

Congratulations on the birth. Wishing you both all the best x

MerryMarigold · 17/10/2021 14:37

Wow! Big congratulations Lori! Much bigger than 1lb 3oz. I'm so glad you are both ok. Look after yourself.
