Hi

I recognise that everyone is different but just curious how many weeks pregnant were you when you had to take off your engagement/wedding ring?
I’m currently 14 weeks and it’s ok for now, but I’m petrified of waking up one morning and it’s stuck and I have to have it cut off 🙈 I’m going to get a cheap temporary ring from Argos or somewhere, but not sure when to go looking!

Thanks x

I’m 36 weeks with some swelling but I’ve not needed to take mine off yet. You might be ok.

thebookworm1 · 15/10/2021 14:28

I’m 38 +2 and my engagement/wedding rings are fine - no swelling on that hand. I have other rings on the right hand that are a little tight but nothing too bad.

EdgeOfACoin · 15/10/2021 14:32

I'm 39+6 and I haven't had to take off my rings. They aren't even much tighter than normal.

My bump is absolutely huge and I was in maternity clothes from about 12 weeks but I really haven't experienced much swelling elsewhere at all.

Everyone is different - you might be lucky.

I didnt have to take my ring off at all during pregnancy. It was straight after birth when I struggled to get it off, my hands ballooned almost instantly for some odd reason, maybe the heat in the birth centre.

Algebraicyourleg · 15/10/2021 14:44

19 weeks with twins. The school nurse happened to be around and said if I didn’t get them off then they would be cutting them off. Fingers never went down and I now have an adjustable one which I am wearing for this pregnancy. I’ll get new rings once baby is out.

It might not happen but I did swell quite a bit with both my pregnancies!

marykitty · 15/10/2021 14:44

First pregnancy 42 weeks, I removed it before c-section, it was still loose
Now second pregnancy almost 38 weeks, still loose as well

Ughmaybenot · 15/10/2021 14:46

I’m 37 weeks on Sunday and still wearing my engagement and wedding rings. Doesn’t seem to be any swelling on my left hand as they still fit roughly as they did before but had to shift the rings on my right hand around a bit as they got a bit snug on their usual fingers, which is odd.

girlmom21 · 15/10/2021 14:49

I haven't had to remove mine at all. Now 6 weeks PP.

Martyitsyourkids · 15/10/2021 14:58

I didn't remove mine with either dc x

sakuramiyagi · 15/10/2021 15:03

I took my rings off at 27 weeks during the height of the summer. But now it's colder, I've been able to put them back on as I'm no longer getting any swelling. I'm 37 weeks now.

L1ttleb1t · 15/10/2021 18:23

I had to have mine cut off at a jewellers after swelling in first trimester .... I wish I'd taken it off before then!

Chelyanne · 15/10/2021 18:31

Our 1st it was uncomfortably tight in the last few weeks, 2nd & 3rd kept them on throughout. Our twins they were stuck on my finger, I had an elcs and they taped them up. Our 6th I took them off when I went in to labour as I knew I'd be going in to surgery for cs at some point that night.
Never been so tight that cutting them would be required.

MrsS89K · 15/10/2021 18:32

Thanks ladies x

Mine fit all through pregnancy and post birth, however I am overweight so I’m not sure if that made a difference as I didn’t notice / get afflicted by a lot of pregnancy issues that slimmer women seem to.

Nat4392 · 15/10/2021 18:44

I never had to take mine off. I didn’t get any swelling in my fingers, nor anywhere else. I was very happy about this!

Buttons294749 · 15/10/2021 18:48

Never
Although childbirth brought on terrible eczema and now I can't wear any rings lol!

tuxedocat · 15/10/2021 19:17

I never did in my first and I don’t think I will on my second (30w and no need to right now!) fingers crossed you’ll be the same!

LaMadrilena · 15/10/2021 19:45

Only took mine off for the birth, as they said no metal items. Went straight back on afterwards.

firstimemamma · 15/10/2021 19:49

First pregnancy - I was ok until I think about 7 months.
Second (current) pregnancy - my wedding and engagement rings had to come off at 3 months! I wear them on a chain around my neck.

Sexnotgender · 15/10/2021 19:50

Never took mine off in my 2 recent pregnancies. My hands didn’t change at all.

stalkersaga · 15/10/2021 19:56

Never did. Didn't get any swelling anywhere.

boymum88 · 15/10/2021 20:04

Think I got to about 30 weeks before I took them off still haven't put them back on baby is 6 months old. Got a cheap ring after he was born went from an i1/2 to a LI t's now gettin a bit lose but not quite ready to put my original ones back on. I'm hoping once I'm back to the weight I was they will fit if not I will then have them resized

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/10/2021 20:46

I didn’t take mine off with either of my DC.

staherts · 16/10/2021 07:42

I didn’t even know this was a thing. Wore my rings throughout my first pregnancy and don’t remember any issues. Now 35 weeks with second and my rings currently fit fine.

MeAndZig · 16/10/2021 07:49

I had to take mine off at around 4 months pregnant, I’m nearly 8 months now and hoping I can get them back on after birth ! I haven’t put on that much weight but seems most has gone to my feet and hands !
