Hi all,
This is my first baby and I am coming up to my 12weeks into pregnancy and I have been experiencing some thick brown clot/stringy like discharge it is only there when I am passing urine and then when wiping, there is nothing staying in my underwear and if I wear a pantyliner nothing is on it when it’s changed. Should I be worried or is this normal??

Thanks xxx

This has happened to me twice just before 12 weeks I’m afraid and it was bad news both times. But if you consult Dr Google there are a huge number of women who had this and all turned out fine. I think there’s no way of knowing. When is your 12 week scan? Go to A&E if it gets any worse and good luck.

I had this and it was a sign of a MMC but when I phoned the EPU the MW wasn't at all concerned as it is common and often nothing to worry about.

If you're worried then I'd call your MW /EPU. It could be that you have an infection and need antibiotics/your cervix is irritated. I wouldn't automatically assume miscarriage.

Doesn't sound concerning. I had brown discharge, often stringy throughout most of the first trimester, and even had 2 gushes of bright red blood also. It was scary and I thought I was losing baby. I am now 25 weeks and baby boy is looking healthy 💙

Thanks ladies for the advise, I have had no pain or discomfort what so ever just the brown discharge! My scan is on Wednesday so I am hoping and praying that everything is fine and healthy!❤️

My brown discharge at 10 weeks is now sitting on the sofa watching rugby 😊He is now 21 and back from Uni for a few days. Call your EPU if you are worried though. X

@Chickoletta
Bad advice nt always red I have had 4 miscarriages and everyone of them has started with brown blood.

@Sophsparr
Sorry your going through this I had this happen 4 times I have been pregnant and it's been bad news each time, no cramping either no pain that never happened till I started losing clots. Is it think like coffee granules. Hope your story is different from mine. 💚

Chickoletta · 16/10/2021 15:52

@Babyghirl - my advice was contact your midwife…

Babyghirl · 16/10/2021 15:58

@Chickoletta
And miscarriage blood is bright red, but that's not the case.

Trinacham · 16/10/2021 20:29

And from my experience, bright red doesn't mean miscarriage either, just want to point that out in case anyone here reads and panics. Of course they should always seek advice from EPU if they have bright red, but it doesn't always mean miscarriage. My pregnancy is now 25 weeks along after having it at 8 then 10 weeks, and baby is absolutely fine.
