Hi, just turned 4 weeks 2 days now and I’ve woken up in severe pain like really really bad period cramps, I’m crying it hurts so much, and I’m so worried. No bleeding or anything. Any advice? Thank you. Sad

Call 111

Bless try and keep calm and ring 111 for advice.

I understand you will be worried and anxious but not necessarily bad news. I had cramps too one night, as if my insides were being wretched out, I was about 7 weeks I also had a bleed, a gush of dark red blood. 111 advised me to go to the GP on the morning who referred me immediately to early pregnancy unit...she rang them told them I was coming. Scan was a good but I had to go every 2 werks for a scan for a few months. All fine each time and a healthy baby boy as a result.

Get advice though from 111. Keep us inforned, we're hear to listen OP Flowers

Thank you - I took 2 paracetamol when I woke up and the cramps only lasted half an hour. I haven’t had any bleeding but still worrying like mad with it being so early on. Not sure I’m overthinking but I feel my stomach feels different this morning compared to yesterday? I felt a lot of pulling and stretching kind of cramps yesterday and haven’t really felt that this morning. Do you think I should still phone 111 and explain my situation or just wait to see if it happens again?

Thanks for the reply again - really appreciate it xx

I had terrible cramps in those very early weeks. So bad it was like PMS x100 so I presumed it was a bad period month rather than pregnancy!

If you are certain on dates it might be worth a private scan after 6 weeks to check. If you get worse of course 111

Hey, I’m 5+1 and had mild cramps for a couple of weeks. Then last night like you said I had quite severe cramp, no bleeding. It was like something was stuck/stretching and I had to move my legs up into my belly all the time to try and ease it. Lasted about 10 mins and I wanted to cry too. I’m putting mine down to trapped wind - apparently it’s common in early pregnancy and can be really painful. Just thought I’d share but like you I’ll be keeping an eye today and if it happens again I’ll phone GP. Let me know how you are feeling and what you do? Hope you are okay, get plenty of rest. If you get any bleeding at all definitely ring your GP/111.

Hope you're okay OP. It's really scary but I had loads of painful cramps in the early days. Apparently it's the uterus stretching and getting ready. Hope you're feeling okay now - early pregnancy is a constant worry!

Hey @Catmama1992 - sorry you are going through this. In July I had similar, intense cramps and the bleeding followed. It was a chemical pregnancy, although, like the ladies have said, you can have cramps/bleeding and all is ok.

Has it calmed down just now? Sending you a big hug!

Catmama1992 · 14/10/2021 09:55

Yes it hasn’t happened since and this morning I have gone back to feel stretching and pulling in my stomach so I hope as @ronswansonstache said that it was just the uterus stretching! Will phone for advice if happens again or if I get any other symptoms. No bleeding thankfully. X

@Catmama1992 Thank you lovely, I bled for a week and it was a bit heavier than a normal period with some small clots. I am now 9 weeks pregnant so everything is great just now!

I see things have calmed down for you which is fantastic news. It's really hard when you are this early as there is very little that can be done/nobody will see you. Have you taken another pregnancy test? x

MadamMaltesers · 14/10/2021 10:35

@Catmama1992 from what i remember its normal in early preg as long as is it not accompanied by bleeding

Catmama1992 · 14/10/2021 15:22

@babyboybluex yes I’ve done 2 preg tests since and both Have had the same line as yesterday so hopefully I have nothing to worry about! Xx

I had these pains with a chemical back in 2018. The only thing I will say is I bled slightly before the pains. A day after the pains I had full on bleeding, so I would say it’s reassuring this hasn’t happened with you.

It may just be painful cramps which is normal. I would rest as much as you can and get some blood tests done. You mite not feel the pulling anymore because implantation is complete.

OP please call 111 or yr GP tomorrow if only to put yr mind at rest. There really is no harm in getting advice

@Catmama1992

Hi, how did you get on OP

Moonshine160 · 29/10/2021 20:08

I had horrific cramps early on in both my pregnancies, worse than any period pain I’ve had and they took my breath away. Everything turned out to be fine.
