so i've got a second growth scan soon after finding out from the first my baby was large, they said i've got to go to speak to the consultants afterwards, does anyone know what they'll do/suggest? will they try and induce me or just leave it? my 1st was 9lb so i was never going to have a small baby! The consultant appointment after our growth scan was to discuss the scan results and what that might mean moving forward - so in our case that Baby was 9n the 97th percentile and as I'd just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes what medication to put me on.. etc

Our second growth scan is next week (32 weeks) and the midwife yesterday said the consultant appointment would be the same but include a discussion about delivery (induction at 38 weeks likely in my case as I'm on insulin) - so I can start thinking through my options. I'd asked the midwife what to expect so my husband could decide to come with with or not hence she explained it :)

She said my third growth scan at 36 weeks and follow up consultant would be to finalise the delivery plan based on babies weight/size and the GD sugar sugar control - book induction etc

thankyou! i had a GTT test and i assume all came back negative as i've heard nothing! but baby was on 97th centile at 36 weeks with his belly being over that, i assume the results will depend on the growth scan next week? i really don't want to go over my due date so hope they offer an induction as my son was 9lb at term! it's all happened so late tho

Not too much early on tbh.
In my experience they just do repeat scans if baby is measuring ahead and then discuss options around 36wk. It depends how your 1st birth went, if it was complication free they usually leave you go in to spontaneous labour and induce when overdue.

Our 2nd was big, 10lb 12oz @ 40+5. This was noticed on growth scans but they were planning on leaving me until 42wk before induction, had an unassisted vaginal birth. 3rd also big so left me, had her 40+2 9lb 10oz unassisted vb. 4/5 twins so always planned delivery at 38wk, they ended up breech and transverse so had an elcs (8lb 5oz & 8lb 11oz). 6th was measuring big again, this time they decided best to deliver at 39wk so booked elcs. I went in to labour at 38+6, over 20hrs labour before they got me in for cs (she was 10lb 15oz). I'd started to get scar rupture so lost a lot of blood and was unwell after.

Oh just seen you're already 36wk. They'll discuss birth options at your next scan.
I would opt for vb if not had a previous cs and baby is in a good position but insist you are induced on due date if baby is at or above 97th centile then.

thankyou, yeah everything is fine he's only just engaged and head down etc, my first was complication free but i did tear upwards which was awful in the healing process. i will definitely opt for around my due date if i have the choice. i'm glad i didn't go over with my first or i reckon he would of got stuck
