Light pink spotting 4W2D (TW: mention of previous loss)

I miscarried at 4W6D in June. I'm currently 4W2D (confirmed with steadily darkening tests).

At 4W exactly, I had a tiny amount of brown when I wiped. Then nothing for 24hours. Now I've had 4/5 instances of a tiny spot (like the size of a full stop on a laptop keyboard) of light pink on my tissue.

I feel very anxious due to my history. I know it's not good to stress!

Is there anything I can do? Should I call the EPU?

Sorry for your previous losses. No expert but I think spotting as you've described can be normal. Could it be implantation bleeding? Not sure on the dates that would occur but perhaps that would explain it?

No harm in ringing/going to EPU though even if it's just reassurance.

Early on in my pregnancy I was getting pains in one side and feared an ectopic pregnancy. Went along to EPU and everyone was so kind and helpful.

Take care

Thank you Tee20x.

I called the EPU and because I have minimal bleeding and no cramps they said just to monitor the situation. They said they get calls like this all the time.

I've been offered a reassurance scan at 6 weeks - I am just hoping and praying that this happens and I don't need to go in sooner.

My loss has made me so on edge and anxious and I know that's not good for my body and the tiny collection of cells forming right now. I've lit a candle and am trying to focus on work instead of worrying but it's so hard.

It is entirely possible to have this kind of spotting with a normal healthy pregnancy. If you have pain and bright red bleeding then obviously it’s a different scenario. I agree with the advice you’ve been given - monitor the situation. It’s so so hard isn’t it. I checked the loo paper every single time I went to the toilet throughout both of my pregnancies after years and years of ttc. Right up until the end. People say just relax but that’s just impossible frankly. The best I can say is don’t stress about not being able to relax !!! At the very least just know that if you can’t totally relax then that’s ok. There’s some really interesting research coming out about stress and ttc and how it actually doesn’t play as big a part as we have assumed. This alone was cause for me to relax a bit !
It’s great they’ve offered the six week scan. That’s not very far off at all. In the meantime if there’s anything you can do to give yourself another focus such as get obsessively into a great tv series (!) then I’d encourage you to do that and soon enough that scan will be here. Sending you love and strength and encouragement xx

Thank you so much Kitty. Did you ever get spotting with either of your pregnancies?

Ooh I had exactly this in my pregnancy with my second child! I started spotting the day before my period was due for about 3 days. I was sure it was going to be another MC but it wasn’t! With my MCs the spotting wasn’t around my period due date

Kittyofwhitby · 13/10/2021 17:17

Yes i had a little brown spotting early in my first pregnancy. In my second I got some in the third trimester. Both times I had healthy babies at term.
I know what it is like though to worry about any of these signs though after what you’ve been through. I’m so sorry you have had that experience. On the basis of what you’re experiencing right now all I can say is that this is not a clear sign of something being wrong. Xx

Thank you.

So update: I had 3/4 daily instances of seeing a tiny pink spot when I wiped on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It would always be a singular spot, about the size of a full stop.

Nothing Friday - Monday.

This morning I had a tiny brown spot (I mean tiny) twice.

I called EPU and because of my previous loss they want to see me tomorrow - 5W2D.

I asked if I should be worried and they said it was common to have spotting but they wanted to check.

I feel very anxious. Very, very anxious.
