For those you got pregnant ttc first cycle after stopping the pill, what symptoms did you have? Since I've stopped the pill I've had headaches, tiredness, sore boobs. But I feel like after ovulation and ttc those symptoms have increased. I'm waiting to test. But I'm just wondering what others experiences where conceiving the first cycle after stopping the pill?

I had no symptoms whatsoever. Just tested at four weeks after stopping and then every week after that. Positive test on week 7.

What pill were you on? I was on Cerazette. I got symptoms starting from a few days after I stopped. Ovulated 2 weeks later. And currently 3dpo.

did you have a successful pregnancy? I've heard it's best to have a normal period before ttc after stopping pill but we decided to just go for it.

None whatsoever. Bled lightly (twice) and misdated the pregnancy by 7 weeks! DS1 is a happy, healthy almost 9 year old.

I was told the reason medics like a real period is it avoids the date issue I had (so I was too late for Downs Syndrome testing and my dates were less accurate than had my 13 week scan not turned out to be a 20 week scan).

DelurkingAJ · 13/10/2021 08:35

Oh and I didn’t track ovulation or test until I missed (so I was oblivious until about 10 weeks, as it turned out).

I stopped taking the pill and was pregnant within the month. Didn't even get a period.

I didn't have any symptoms really, only tested because my period had gone awol.

Healthy pregnancy and she's 14 now.

Hello. I was on Cerelle. No withdrawal bleed. Ovulated 2 wks after last pill, BFP at 9dpo. Easy pregnancy, baby is now 3 months. I’m 36 🙂 was v surprised and thankful as I thought it would take months.

I had sore nipples - that was it. And slight cramps around 4wks. It wasn’t until 6wks the symptoms ramped up and I started feeling sick etc.

Morning all. I have been wondering about this too. I'm 38 and I stopped the pill (cerelle) on 22nd August, didn't detect ovulation but had my first period 16th September, and lord that was a period and a half!!! Throughout that time my boobs were so so sore.
This is now our first proper cycle ttc, ovulated on 6th October and now convinced I'm pregnant! Experiencing mild nausea, mild cramping and odd wind type feelings in my abdomen. However im also thinking this is my body getting used to non regulated ovulation hormones for the first time in years! Who knows! On the test will tell

I was on microgynon. Stopped taking it and felt queasy for the first couple of days after stopping which is apparently pretty common. Then tested 4 weeks later as I thought it was probably about time that my period was due and I was pregnant. Exactly the same happened with dc2 too.

Jsgdud · 13/10/2021 09:19

I was on Celeste and stopped the pill then tracked my ovulation for one month and had a 'real' period then got pregnant first cycle twice.

Crystalxuk · 13/10/2021 12:06

@DelurkingAJ That's what i thought too about the dating thing. But if it doesnt affect the pregnancy itself id rather be pregnant sooner rather than later. I've also bled twice before ovulation and i thought it was going to lead to a period but it did. We will see what happens

@MegAnne83 omg i've also had very sore boobs. It's been horrible. I was thinking that if i am pregnant, I won't be able to use that as a marker lol.
I stopped taking Cerazette on 30th September and ovulated 10th October (positive OPK since Saturday) so im 4 days behind you. I hope your symptoms are from pregnancy and not hormones going crazy! I hope we both get pregnant this month :)

@ChristmasWithDC did you notice any difference between coming off the pill and early pregnancy?

OP posts:
Crystalxuk · 13/10/2021 12:19

@Jsgdud I heard you should have a real period but i didnt do that. I tracked as soon as i stopped. Hopefully it sticks :)

Like others, no symptoms at all except period didn't show up. Ended up not getting a BFP until I was 5 days late and by that point I was confused as I didn't feel pregnant or premenstrual 😂

Crystalxuk · 13/10/2021 12:53

@mummabubs were you getting negatives before you were 5 days late or did you not test at all? I'm in thr 2 week wait right now and driving myself crazy.

mummabubs · 13/10/2021 13:30

@crystalxuk I tested the day after I was due (so one day late), then again when I was 3 days late, both negative. I'd heard that coming off the pill can mean your cycle takes a few runs to regulate so I wasn't entirely sure if that was why I hadn't started my period. It's really hard as I discovered when trying to conceive DC2 (which took 9 months so not like DC1 at all!) but the best advice I can give is don't test before you think your period should start. You'll just spend a fortune in tests and won't be able to feel any more certain if you get a negative result! Fingers crossed you get the outcome you want soon 😊

ChristmasWithDC · 13/10/2021 13:57

crystalxuk I wasn’t too happy at the time! I was convinced it would take about a year to get pregnant as both my sisters and my best friend had trouble conceiving and they were all fitter and healthier than I was. Falling pregnant straight away meant I ended up getting married at 5 months pregnant and we had to cancel our honeymoon hiking in the Himalayas and went to Spain instead 😂.

The only thing I really felt was a week or so of being horny as hell, I guess when I was ovulating and a decade on the pill meant that I hadn’t had those hormones for such a long time. But then I just tested as I thought it was about time I was due my period, no symptoms as such.
