I’m currently overdue by 9 days and am getting moderately painful pains under my bump…
They started around 3/4 hours ago they are regular and sticking around regardless if I’m walking or moving about they’re not wearing off, however they’re not getting any stronger (not taking my breath away or making me curl into a ball😂) could this be the beginning or does this sound like the latent/early stages?

I'd say latent. As your waters haven't gone, it tends to be slow. As soon as they go everything really hots up

Mel892020 · 12/10/2021 20:20

@Sneezecakesmama that's what I thought! Fingers crossed things get moving as I'm booked in for IOL on Saturday 🤞🏼

Sounds like it could be starting to me. I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting until your waters have gone until you phone the hospital though, DD was born in her's!

Mel892020 · 12/10/2021 20:56

@PanicBuyingSprouts ah thank you! It's my second labour however I was induced with my first so I really don't know what I'm looking out for 🤦🏽‍♀️

I phoned the hospital with DC1 when I couldn't bear the pain any longer. Labour was fairly quick so was told to go straight in with my second, age was 4 hours from start to finish!

I'd leave it until you're 5 mins apart and then phone in Thanks

Mel892020 · 12/10/2021 21:37

@PanicBuyingSprouts yes I've heard the rule of thumb is once you can't talk through them to call! I hope I manage a quick and smooth labour this time, well they're currently 10 mins apart lasting 40-60 seconds so still a way to go!☺️

How exciting! It might not be that long, second labours are often quicker anyway?

RoseAndGeranium · 12/10/2021 21:43

Oo, be careful leaving it till they’re any particular length or space if it’s your second labour. My contractions second time around were never five minutes apart and they never lasted a whole minute. They were 2 to 4 minutes apart lasting 45 seconds or so and not that painful and I was pottering around quite happily thinking it would be an hour or two before things really got going...and then 10 minutes later I was holding my baby.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 12/10/2021 21:45

Oh wow Rose!

@RoseAndGeranium oh wow I bet that was a shock! That's me not getting any rest tonight 😂

Have things progressed yet @Mel892020?

Mel892020 · 13/10/2021 06:59

@PanicBuyingSprouts they have! Now between 4-6 mins apart and lasting roughly a minute, getting stronger but still not as painful as I remember so I'm holding off ringing for now!🤦🏽‍♀️ also had my bloody show 🤞🏼

PanicBuyingSprouts · 13/10/2021 07:25

Oh how exciting! Sounds like LO will be here today!

I'd give them a call though, just to see what they say. They may just want to check on you Thanks

Mel892020 · 13/10/2021 07:37

@PanicBuyingSprouts I'm really hoping so 🤞🏼 I'll give them a call once my little one has been collected haha!

@ShirleyPhallus thank you! Will definitely keep you posted!

Really hoping the OP and her new LO are doing well today.

I might be overly invested on this thread Grin

Mel892020 · 13/10/2021 13:58

@PanicBuyingSprouts unfortunately I'm still home and haven't progressed past the last update 🤦🏽‍♀️ think it's going to be a long slow process from here!

Oh no! I was hoping you would have been holding the baby by the time I got back from work.

Still, it does sound like LO is on their way Smile

You know that's definitely going to happen, right?

DD arrived the day after our Wedding Anniversary so we really couldn't celebrate properly fir a long time. Nobody ever wants to host a small child's birthday party with a hangover...Grin
