12 week scan measuring 8.5 weeks

Hi everyone,

Went for my 12 week scan today at the NHS this afternoon. They said baby measured 8.5 weeks and they couldn’t see a heartbeat.

I am still feeling pregnant with nausea, bad taste in mouth and sore breasts. I also had a private scan at 7 weeks and they found a heart beat 5 weeks ago.

I have been told today that it looks like a missed miscarriage and to expect bleeding and cramping over the next few days. They’ve booked me in for another scan in a weeks time.

I am just wondering if there are any positive stories out there matching this?

I am grasping at straws but wondering if NHS sonograms are not as powerful as private as I am obese and hold most of my weight in my belly region… hoping for any chance that this could turn positive. Thanks in advance x

I don’t think there could be a way OP, which is just utterly crap for you. NHS scanning may not be an visibly clear as private scanning but technically the sonographers will have the same skills x

If you were dated 7 weeks 5 weeks ago you would be measuring 12 weeks now that's quite a big difference.
Nhs sonographers are usually better than private. There's been lots of stories of private clinics missing things.

Sorry you are going through this.
