Hi everyone, for those of you whove had/have GD, how far along were you when you were induced/had a caeserean/went into labour? I have some other complications too and will most likely be having a caeserean but would like to hear others experiences. Thank you

I had gd during this pregnancy which was diagnosed at 28 weeks. By 30 weeks I was on metformin and insulin for my fasting levels.
By 32 weeks I was on insulin before meals too.

I was due to have a c section anyway as I’d had 3 previous sections, and my consultant had originally said she was happy for me to go to 39 weeks.

However at my 34 week appointment and growth scan, although baby was looking a normal size, she said because I was on a fair amount of insulin she wasn’t happy to wait until 39 weeks, and instead brought my section date forward to 37+4.

On the day of the section I was scheduled to be 2nd on the list, but when the surgeon came around in the morning he bumped me up to first as he said I was classed as the highest risk.

As it was, all went perfectly, baby was born healthy, and he kept his levels under control. We went home just over 24 hours later!

I'm 10 weeks pp now but I had GD, diagnosed super early at 8 weeks (both my parents have diabetes though so no surprise).

I was induced at 38 weeks. When I went in it turns out I was already 3cm and had been in slow labour for a few days so all they did was break my waters.

Whole labour was only 4 hours in total so not long at all. DS was only 6lb12 as well so not a big baby as many people had warned me about with GD.

Good luck OP I hope all goes well!

I had GD but managed to keep it in control by diet, I was allowed to go to 40 weeks, then went in at 40+2 to be induced. Dr had said baby looked big, around 9lb something but she was 7lb 2 when born and there were no complications or effects for me or baby after the birth.
