With mothercare gone where do you go for a browse/to get inspiration/to buy bits and pieces? I don’t want to do it all online but I can’t think of a single shop I can visit!

Mamas and papas?

For Maternity? Or baby clothing?
If both I'd look at h & m they do maternity and cute baby clothing too. The maternity range I got dresses and tops from H and M
For maternity alone there are so many online stores I shopped at boohoo as it was reasonable and I wouldn't be keeping things for too long. I bought maternity leggings from there.
ASOS is also great for maternity.

Thanks. What about for all the stuff you would get from mothercare. Pram, bottle system, breast pads, baby bath…

Mamas and papas, although that’s expensive. Have a google and see if there are any outlet places near you

Rainbow0821 · 12/10/2021 04:51

Smyth's toy shop has a baby section.

Naz2009 · 12/10/2021 04:51

For baby stuff, google "baby shops near me" you will find some sort of family run business you can go to for ideas.
Be warned they have expensive branded items mostly.
It's so hard with mother care, toys r us and kiddycare gone.
Smyth toys have a small range, try Tk max,

and I forgot to mention John Lewis @Hadenough2021

John Lewis & boots

tiggerwhocamefortea · 12/10/2021 05:13

Boots bought Mothercare....sign up to the parenting club card and wait for points days - In less than a year I've earnt around £200 in points which I then use for bigger things as they grow like push chairs or play pen or Xmas presents

Local Facebook groups, so many bargains out there, especially for newborns as they use stuff for such a short amount of time so the quality is good.
Plus is feels good to be re-using things and not contributing to the massive pile that will end up eventually in landfill. I like to think my baby will be grateful for that when older.

Lullaby88 · 12/10/2021 07:24

If you physically want to go to into a shop then yes I got my pram system from mamas and papas. For breast pads, bottles etc just got it all from boots/superdrug. If ur looking online there's a lot more you can buy and it could work out better as things are better priced online.

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 12/10/2021 10:48

haha I asked this exact question months ago...

In all honesty I still don't know.

We got our pram from Smyths, cot-bed came from Argos. Clothes mostly have come from ASDA or Matalan - although if you hit it right, Home Bargains have some really nice stuff. Boots also has a lot. I've done shopping though lockdown so most of it has been online looking for inspiration.

John Lewis has a good selection, but its very pricey. I did have a cot-bed ordered with Online4baby but it kept being delayed, but they had a good selection of things.

John Lewis and Sainsburys were my go to! I swear by Sainsburys maternity pads Smile
