I'm almost 16 weeks with my first baby and for the last two weeks I've been getting almost daily headaches. I get headaches/migraines anyway so I've not been too concerned, but I called my doctor anyway and now he wants to check me later for preeclampsia.

I know they're just being safe but now I'm really worried. Last BP check, urine etc four weeks ago were fine, and I'm not overweight. I just wanted to check if anyone else has regular/daily headaches in the second trimester and have been ok? I'm worried my blood pressure will be sky high with anxiety! Thanks all x

I had loads of headaches around this time. I started using vicks Vaoprub which helped ease some of the tension.

Also experienced daily horrible headaches for over 2 weeks around a similar time. I got the cool patches you can stick on your skin and there's also a rub on stick that helps relieve some of the headache but I had to sit there and reapply every few mins to get proper relief from it. They eventually went away on their own which I was very happy about. Make sure you're drinking enough water to rule out dehydration and not stressed out etc. It could just be hormones like it was for me I think.

I suffer with migraines usually but didnt have any in the first trimester.
Second trimester was a different srory. I had them every day for a while. Midwife and doctor werent bothered at all as blood pressure and urine had been fine.
I was advised to take paracetamol and codeine when it was at its worst but in the lowest dose i could.
I would just take one paracetamol and one over the counter cocodamol (the 8mg/500mg) which would take the edge off a bit and keep topped up on paracetamol.
It seemed to help, didnt solve the issue, but allowed me to function.
Theyve basically stopped again now im in the third trimester.

Thank you all, very much, for your reassurance. You have helped to make me less anxious. I shall let you know what the doctor says later just in case it helps anyone else. x

Just in case this is helpful for anyone else: the doctor checked my BP, urine and even behind my eyes and said there was no indication of preeclampsia or anything worrying. She said it was most likely hormones and stress, made worse by sleeplessness. She also reassured me that paracetamol is absolutely fine to take in pregnancy, even regularly.

Hugs to anyone else suffering!

Thanks for the update OP. I've had the worse headaches near enough constantly at 16-17 weeks. Hoping it doesn't last too much longer

So sorry to hear this, Rosie. You have my absolute sympathy. I do hope your headaches ease soon too. I'm going to try drinking lots more water (I drink quite a lot anyway) and being more strict with bed times in the vain hope it might help.
At least I know the regular paracetamol isn't doing any damage.

Hugs to you!
