Hi everyone :)

Really hoping some of you can help. Last summer, I sadly lost my wee boy halfway through pregnancy. I opted not to have a post mortem (didn’t want him to be out through any more) but doctors did tests on me and on placenta. Results said that there was evidence of placental abruption; however without post mortem they can’t confirm if placenta abrupted prior to or after J’s death.

After 15 long months, I’m now 4+4 and while I am completely and utterly over the moon to finally be here again, I’m terrified. I have read that the chances of an abruption after the first one are 1 in 10. I can’t bear the thought of losing another child in that way. I wondered if any of you ladies could give me some hope with stories of having an abruption with one pregnancy but then a successful pregnancy after? Thank you so much ❤️

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss Flowers but congratulations on your current pregnancy.

I had placental abruption in my second pregnancy, although I was extremely fortunate that my ds survived as I had got to 37 weeks. Although not helpful that the maternity unit didn’t believe my phone call about the amount of bleeding I was having Hmm luckily I had the confidence to call an ambulance anyway (against their advice), and had an emergency C section as soon as I got to hospital and they saw what was happening.

I then went on to have a third successful and peaceful pregnancy with an elective C section.

Good luck I hope all goes smoothly for you this time.

@MissyB1 Thank you so much ❤️

I’m so glad you decided to call an ambulance despite being fobbed off and so very glad your wee one made it :)

That’s so reassuring to hear, thank you. I’ve waited all this time to become pregnant again and now it’s here I feel so different to how I thought I would feel - I thought it would “fix” everything and I’d be walking on cloud 9, but I just feel so frozen with panic about delivering another child who didn’t make it. I think I need to stay away from horror stories, tbink positively and hope that this wee one makes it here healthy and happy 🤞 Your story has really helped me, thank you :)

I had an abruption with my first at 32 weeks. Went in due to lack of movement and had an emergency c section.
I've had another 3 children since and was monitored closely throughout my pregnancies.

@Bergmum That must have been frightening, I hope your baby was ok and that you were too ❤️

That’s so fantastic you’ve had three more children! If you don’t mind me asking, when they monitored you did they find any evidence of abruptions with those pregnancies or were you ok? Thank you for sharing, it’s really helped me this morning ❤️

My son is now a healthy almost 10 year old. He was growth restricted and had a difficult first week in NICU but came home after 2 months.
At that time they said it was probably just a fluke but then with my second there were placental insufficiencies and the placenta was ageing so she needed to be delivered at 33 weeks but was fine and only needed a couple of weeks in NICU/SCBU.

I had various blood tests but found no evidence of any blood clotting disorders but they said I probably have a blood clotting disorder so I had to inject with clexane as well as take aspirin from 6 weeks. I got to 35 weeks with my third before developing pre eclampsia but baby was fine and didn't need any ectra care.

With my fourth I was on clexane and aspirin again and finally got to full term.

Anyway so sorry to hear about your loss. Hope that was a little bit reassuring.

I had one with my 4 child I was able to get help when I knew something was wrong even when I still had 5 weeks to go my stomach got rock hard and I could barely move so I went to the hospital I wasn't in pain until I laid on the hospital bed. I felt like my hip was detaching from my body worse pain every. so I went into emergency C-section. and my son who is now 10 today was born they had to put a tube in his chest for the first month due to a air sack busting. now getting pregnant again was my fear. and I did get pregnant after this pregnancy happened I have a little girl who is 6. And I have a lot of medical problems from my own birth I was born with gastrothesis. So if I can keep having more kids even after the complications so can you. Just listen to your body it knows and u know it better than anyone. I have 5 kids and only one was premature. My last one they thought I had swallowed the Amniotic fluid during labor I start having convulsions and they try to do a EKG for an hour and I couldn't stop shaking so they put me in ICU but never found anything or know why I even started to have convulsions the doctor was stumped on this and I had the same doctor with all my children. I had complications with all but one child which was my middle child. My first one I have vaginal strep and yes u get tested for it but I was taking antibiotics at the time of test and that's why it didn't show up in the test. my second one I delivered at an 8 due to her umbilical cord wrapping around her neck they had to use the suction cup to pull her out while I pushed and another doctor pushed on my stomach. I've had three vaginal and two C-section I have a scar where my belly button should be so I had to have 3d ultrasounds with them and I am RHA negative.

@KerryW87 Hi, not sure if you are still on here. Possibly not. Just wondered if everything went ok with you, how was the pregnancy? Was you monitored closely was it different this time round?
