Has anyone been for an early scan? Would you recommend it. I'm in 2 minds. Currently about 6 weeks so would need wait until 8 weeks x

Yes, we had an early scan where I thought I was 7 weeks, however, measuring 6+5. Saw that beautiful heartbeat and it was just magical. After a CP in July we wanted the reassurance and it certainly gave us that before the 12 week scan.

Ideally you can wait until 8 weeks, however, could go sooner at 7 weeks if you can't wait but if you can 8 weeks is a good stage Smile x

We went for an early scan at 7 weeks, baby measured 6+5 with a nice heartbeat. Definitely put my mind at rest after previous losses.
You don't see a huge amount but we could see a yolk sac, baby and a tiny beating heart.
For me it was worth every penny!

I had a scan at 11 weeks in my first pregnancy because hubby couldn’t attend my 12 week appt, so we wanted to see baby together. That was fab as it was pretty much the same as a 12 week scan. Saw loads.
Second (successful) pregnancy, I had an ectopic rule out scan (as i had an ectopic before) at 5+4. It was reassuring to know baby was in the uterus. BUT no heartbeat or embryo was seen. They were like “that’s probably normal for the stage of pregnancy, it has every chance of progressing”. So it wasn’t that reassuring - and even if I had seen more, it’s only a snapshot of that moment - it’s not to say something won’t go wrong after seeing it, which would put me off for future pregnancies

Thanks guys. I've had 3 kids already and just went with he flow don't know why I'm a bit more anxious this time maybe because I'm bit older. 38 and it'd been 9 years since my last. Not sure what to do. I dont want unnecessary worry I've heard of people being told nothing can be seen but it might just be too early x

@FitMum27 I would definitely recommend waiting until 7/8weeks as before 7 it could be too early and you may not see the heartbeat which could worry you more. However I personally am a big fan early scans after 7 weeks. I’ve had several MCs - the first one I found out at the 12 week scan I’d had a missed miscarriage which was heartbreaking. Personally I’d rather find out sooner rather than later if it’s not going well.
