Question about sweeps

I am 36 weeks with baby number 2. I remember being offered two stretch and sweeps with my first baby, one at 40 weeks and another at 41. Is this the norm?

I've read various posts where people are offered them at 38/39 weeks etc, would that be for medical/other reasons?

I had one last pregnancy at 38 weeks because I was going in to be induced early so wanted to see if there was anything I could do before that

She couldn't even get to my cervix it was so closed / back so safe to say he was not ready at all!

With ds 2 I was offered one at 41 weeks. He really didn't want to come out but he did about 24 hours later, quite quickly in the end.

I had two, one when I was 4 days overdue and the other at 7 days. Didn't work. Was induced when I was 10 days overdue, DD1 was born by emergency c section 12 days past her due date.

I had one at 10 days overdue. My mucus plug fell out and still DD was not interested in shifting. Had to have an induction then emergency c section to evict her.

Ah interesting, thanks all! My sweeps didn't work last time and DS didn't arrive til 42 weeks induction, but they were able to pop my waters to induce me.

This time baby already feels really low and lots of pressure in my bum. Cervix feels weird almost like it might be open a bit. Just wondered if they examined me and it was favourable, would they do the sweep ahead of term.

I was going to be having them early as was due to be induced any time fro. 37 weeks, but that's not happening now. However midwife has offered me a sweep at 39+6 (should be 41 weeks here for second baby I believe) as that fits with her diary, she's hardly got any spaces and I was meant to be 'off the books' by now and like me I don't think she wants me to go much oast my due date given a few weeks back it was induction at 39 weeks at the latest.

I had one at 39+5 with DD when they were booing my induction with her and she couldn't get anywhere near it so I'm not optimistic for this one but hoping to at least find out what state of play is!

So the short answer is I guess it depends on your midwife and your history?
