I had pre eclampsia with my DS in March 2020. Im pregnant again and 18 weeks. It wasnt caught until last minute and I was told I'd been s ticming time bomb for weeks by the midwife when I was rushed into hospital. we nearly lost him at one point and needed emergency intervention. He was very small as he'd stopped growing at 32/33 weeks but not picked up till 37 weeks and I was induced at 38 weeks.
I'm so nervous about it returning and feel so anxious. Im so scared about losing my little girl and feel like I have so many questions.

For anyone who has had pre eclampsia and then had another pregnancy can you give me some positive stories please.

Sorry to hear how hard it was with your first pregnancy - would you consider getting a home blood pressure monitor, then you can check it yourself regularly. You need one that has been verified as reliable in pregnancy - there is a list of which monitors are recommended here:

I have the andon itrack and it was about £25

Ive got a bp machine at home as i had to take my bp for 6 weeks post partum alongside bp medication.
Ive taken it and it seems ok atm. Just hate feeling on edge and something could go wrong and feel like apart from labour ward my midwife team have no phone number only emails so I cant just call anyone if I have questions or concerns.

I had pre eclampsia with my first and then didn’t have it with my second. I’m sure the midwife said to me your chances of having it again are low ( I was always convinced it was the opposite) I didn’t have any blood pressure issues with my second one, hopefully you will be the same, I know it’s a worrying time but if you ever feel somethings not right phone triage xx

@panda8383 thank you so much. Did you take aspirin during your 2nd pregnancy at all?

Yeah I took it from 12 weeks, my first was born at 37 weeks and second 39 weeks 5 days( that was only due to me having a section)
I’m glad I didn’t have it again as couldn’t deal with the know it all nurses( who weren’t older than 20 telling me what I could and couldn’t do lol) x
