Some people on here, honestly, I do wonder what they feel is worthy of celebration in their lives. Congratulations OP, I'm sure he's going to be thrilled with the surprise and what the hell is wrong with a bit of fun and silliness in life anyway?!

Anyway, how about 3 helium balloons set out side by side for him to come downstairs and see on his birthday morning, with 'happy birthday daddy' on them - but one more balloon than he'd be expecting. You could even tie the pregnancy test as the weight for the third one.

Or tell him that you've got a present on the way but its going to take another 8 months to arrive and lift your jumper to reveal a ribbon around your belly.

Or get the kids involved with a mini pass the parcel game with him and have each layer with little clues - little pack of jellybeans, ear plugs, something you had cravings for in previous pregnancy etc. with the last layer being the pregnancy test - would be cute to watch it slowly dawn on him!

you want to wait a few weeks...you are far more patient than i am! I couldn't even wait til his personal training session finished!

But like others said maybe an extra seat (although depends if you want to tell your other kids that early). If not then a card saying "daddy of..." etc

Viviennemary · 07/10/2021 11:00

Dont say a word. Wait until he guesses. That would be fun. Hmm

Neonplant · 07/10/2021 11:15

Congratulations. But honestly this whole announcement thing is just cringe. He's the father just tell him. Why does everything have to be spectacle?

I agree.

Your suggestions of the balloons & the ribbon around the belly are adorable!

Congrats OP and hope it goes well.

I saw something for surprising grandparents where they lined up for a photo and instead of say cheese the person taking the photo said ‘say, X is pregnant’

Not sure how it could work in your scenario it it was really cute I thought

maybe ask the restaurant to put a high chair by your table will only work if your other kids r to old to sit in one, or get a cake made with half blue and half pink.
Congratulations 💚[/quote]

Hmm yeah don't do the high chair thing at the restaurant, it's just odd.

😅 this made me chuckle, my husband would cotton on quite quickly with all the first trimester sleeping

Buying an extra balloon or writing something in a card is hardly making a spectacle.

Thank you to all the kind people of who have A: answered the question in the OP and B: not been all judgy and mean Sad

il let you all know how it goes either by updating here or else you'll see me over on the relationship board after he has left me for being a controlling, cringe worthy, immature wife who has plastered it all over 'the gram' Hmm and made a spectacle of myself GrinGrinGrin

@SurpriseDH

It really is. But you're not just doing that either. It just really seems like you're making it a thing that's happening to you to then share with him. Obviously do what you want. But this approach doesn't sit right with me at all.

Thank you for the permission to do what i want in my life.

honestly why post on this thread? i didnt ask if it was a good idea to incorporate telling him about the pregnancy into his birthday so iv no idea why so many people feel the need to be so judgemental.

Congratulations! With my first, I wrapped up a baby grow as it was around his birthday.
Second pregnancy, I wrote a card with a poem about 3 becoming 4 etc… sadly, that pregnancy ended in loss, so the card became a bit bittersweet.
3rd pregnancy, I was so shocked (it happened first cycle of trying after having an ectopic/Fallopian tube removed) that I literally called him upstairs and went “sh*t, look at the stick!!!” 🤣🤣🤣

CSJobseeker · 07/10/2021 17:01

@mummyh2016

You can't wait a few weeks to tell your husband you're pregnant surely?? My DH would be really upset if I kept something like that from him for a few weeks. It's not as though it's a couple of days.
This. A few days.... fine. A few weeks? No.
CSJobseeker · 07/10/2021 17:05

Maybe just a scan photo in his birthday card from you, but I personally wouldn’t make more of it than that.

But surely the father would want to be there at the scan? Actually being able to support your partner through early pregnancy is worth so much more than getting a weird surprise about it.

You’re so argumentative.

As many people have pointed out, it’s a weird idea to keep a pregnancy from your husband for weeks. Just bizarre. And if anything goes wrong, which it sounds like it has previously, why wouldn’t you both want to be able to support each other?

I don’t understand being so aggy about such a stupid idea.

Does he have a favourite sports team? I announced to my husband on father’s day using some baby item from his fave football team. Can’t remember what exact item now..

Not sure why everyone is getting so personally upset by this, just move onto another thread if you’re not interested. There’s also no “spectacle” if it’s just between the two of them at a meal?

Thank you. Can I ask how long you knew before you told him?

Il only be 6 weeks when its his birthday so i really didn't think it was such a big deal.

Also there will definitely not be any spectacle. We're going out for a meal at night but i will be telling him in the morning of his birthday, just the two of us. And absolutely no social media posts either, i hate things like that.

Well if you want ideas, how about wearing really baggy clothes for the next 8 months. When you go into labour, pretend you have appendicitis and get your husband to drive you to hospital. Pretend to get lost, and end up in the labour and delivery ward. Have a baby and shout “SURPRISE”

Now who's being aggy?? GrinGrin
