Alopecia areata and pregnancy loss?

Hello. Any ladies experience alopecia areata in pregnancy and has it had any affect on pregnancy? My previous pregnancy I experienced it which unfortunately ended in loss at 30 weeks. I am now pregnant again and the hair loss has started. 3 bald patches at 12 weeks. I'm on iron and everything going OK for now but I'm naturally very anxious and worried there is a link between alopecia and pregnancy loss.

@Olahaha2021 I am so sorry for your loss. I have alopecia (had it for over 10 years) never lost all of my hair but it’s always been on and off patchy. I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant (first time) and have never even considered that it would cause a problem in my pregnancy. Everything has been perfect so far and I haven’t noticed a difference in my hair loss either way to be honest. My white blood cells were slightly high at my last appointment and I did wonder whether it could be related to the alopecia but the midwife wasn’t concerned at all.

I know it’s hard but try and enjoy your pregnancy where you can and congratulations x
