Could it be pre eclampsia at 16 weeks?

Everything I've read, which admittedly is only a bit of googling this afternoon, suggests pre eclampsia before 24 weeks is very rare. But upon chatting to a friend about how crappy I'm feeling atm and the symptoms I have, she suggested to call my midwife because it sounded like PE. I know nothing about PE, never had it before and this is my 5th pregnancy (2 living babies).

But anyway for the past week or so I've had a headache that just doesn't seem to shift, it's always there but varying degrees of pain. Usually tolerable but other times I've had to go lie down. I've been vomiting on and off this past week too, I've had no morning sickness this pregnancy (or in any of my pregnancies actually!) but suddenly felt nauseous and gagging a lot. I also get these little white floaty spots in my vision, particularly when vomiting but I just put it down to the strain caused by all the heaving!

I haven't had my 16 week midwife check yet to know anything about blood pressure or urine. But I called the clinic and left a message today, no one has got back to me yet so I was just hoping someone on here might have experienced similar or have any idea if my symptoms sound concerning?

I feel a bit daft for being so unsure of myself. I'm just always so busy that I barely sit and think about myself until the kids have gone to bed, and then I've just been putting the symptoms down as stress and tiredness etc Blush

Definitely get checked out by the midwife! My mum had pre-eclampsia with me very early on and I ended up being born at 24 weeks because of it.

It might be nothing, but it’s always worth getting checked out!

@TheFamousMrEd Oh gosh that sounds scary! I'm hoping someone will call me back early tomorrow.

I agree get it checked but at 16 weeks I have awful headaches that wouldn't go and the floaters.. think mine was hormones and possibly an iron deficiency xx

Sorry, I don’t mean to scare you! I turned out absolutely fine and am booked in to have my own baby induced on Friday!
