Early symptoms of ectopic pregnancy?

Hi all! Those of you who have sadly had an ectopic pregnancy could you please tell me your early symptoms etc? I'm currently 18 days later for my period, I've taken numerous test all of which were negative apart from one but I'm not sure if that was just an evaporation line. For the last 2 weeks I've on and off had cramping and a pain on my left side. I called and spoke to my gp yesterday who refused to do a blood test to check my levels to see if I am pregnant and to basically wait and see if I miss my next period. I mentioned that I was cramping etc and he said there was a possibility of ectopic but wouldn't bring me in for a test yet as I'm not in agony basically. Does this sound like I could be having an ectopic pregnancy and it's just to early to show up on test? If I am pregnant then I'd be just over 6 weeks. I'm usually regular as clock work apart from my other 2 pregnancies this is out of the ordinary.

An ectopic pregnancy would still produce a positive test, especially at 6 weeks. I suspect that your late period is not due to pregnancy. Your gp is being unhelpful but there probably isn't much he can do.

Can you call your early pregnancy unit? They can scan you at 6 weeks to rule this out. Alternatively, you could book a private scan which does cost but for peace of mind x

I would deff insist on seeing a doctor. depending on where it's attached there may be strong positives or not on a test. very dangerous to wait til someone's "in agony" as that could result in a rupture. please speak to another doctor or go to a walk in clinic

Are you sure of when you ovulated? In other words, how positive are you that you are 18 days late? If you're not tracking ovulation I would maybe say its more likely that you're not as late as you think yet, maybe you haven't haven't ovulated? It's not unusual to get a random cycle every now and then even if you are normally very regular.

@ButFirstTea I believe I ovulated around 2 weeks after my last period in August. I don't use tests I just go by symptoms if that makes sense. I do however track my periods on an app and its always spot on give or take a day.

I will definitely be calling the gp again and pushing to be seen. I feel like I'm in limbo at the moment, I just want to know either way. So frustrating that it's not taken seriously.

I would suggest doing a test op to rule it out and if you are pregnant you need to see a doctor. It's very dangerous for him to leave you with a suspected ectopic. Years ago I had an ectopic and was nearly fobbed off to begin with. My symptoms were dizziness 2 days before being rushed to hospital and the odd cramp on one side, I woke up 2 days later with pains that got worse. I rang the epu and they suggested to scan me in a few days time and I refused I was crying at this point the pain was so bad so I went anyway and they agreed to scan me after seeing the pain I was in and found not only was I having an ectopic but I was internally bleeding and my tube ruptured. I was rushed to theatre and it was the worse thing I've ever been through and because of that I'm not longer able to have children naturally. I don't mean to scare you but I wouldn't like to see anyone be fobbed off and go through that so please take and test and go back to the gp or epu and get checked. Ectopic are not something that should be checked upon in a few days. Good luck.

I had pains in early pregnancy and the Dr I saw insisted I went to epau for a scan in case it was ectopic. It wasn't but my god I was glad of the care and concern tbh.Keep pushing and pushing

I had a positive test and started lightly bleeding but the tests remained positive. I was scanned and had blood tests and they found it was ectopic. In the meantime I started to have severe pain in the side where the ectopic was which was unbearable. If you are not getting a positive test then it is unlikely to be due to pregnancy. The blood test and scan would not show anything. However you should be seen by your doctor to establish what the pain is.

Hi all just a quick update. The cramping and pain disappeared about a week ago, i continued to test which were all negative. However my period finally arrived this weekend, it's the heaviest and most painful one I've had in a long time. Completely clueless as to why it didn't come last month 🤷‍♀️.
