Stretch & Sweep Stories

37+2 today with a complex pregnancy.

S&S done tonight, 3cm dilated, 2cm long (not sure what this means!), baby fully engaged, membranes bulging.

Hoping all this means my chances are high of going soon!

I know S&Ss vary so much, anyone have any positive stories?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had a S&S at 40+3, went into labour at midnight and had baby at 12.04pm on 40+4!
The sweep was awful - then midwife proudly told me she’d “given me a really good go”. She said my bishop score was 7 and I had a typical 2nd baby cervix. It was between 2-3cm dilated, but my cervix was a bit long and thick.
I had really bad period pains and sore back leading up to the sweep and worse after. The midwife told me to get active and walk up some hills, so I went for a 3 mile walk and sat on the ball all evening. It obviously did the job!

My last appointment was at 39+2 and the midwife offered me a sweep but I said no because I'm in no real hurry to get this baby out. I'm feeling great and just want to enjoy and make the most of the last week or 2 of having spontaneous day trips and nights out with my husband while we still can! My next appointment is at 40+1 so I'll probably get the sweep then but my midwife told me it only really speeds things up in 30% of cases and it's less likely to work in first time mums anyway.
