Was hoping for a home birth, 4th pregnancy and never been pregnant over due so it’s all so new!
What will I need, I need to now pack a hospital bag lol.
Did you put a other clothes like a night dress when you got there? Or just kept normal clothes?
Apart from my first my last 2 was a water birth and I’m hoping to go home straight after.
Did pessary work for you?
I’m so anxious. If there is anything else that could help please say.

How far along as you OP? Just wanted to say the second you get to 40 weeks they do tend to push induction, but you’re not technically over until 42 weeks, and the risks of still birth increasing are actually really small. So don’t let them make you feel like a HB isn’t an option for you if you want it.

That being said, if you’re happy with an induction don’t let anyone scare monger you. So it can take a while, up to 5 days, so I’d pack some nice Comfy PJs, lounge clothes, an iPad, some books just in case. I was induced for an sga baby at 37 weeks. I had the propess pessary so the 24 hour one. You could have 2 and then they’d aim to break your waters and hopefully nature would take its course, drip if necessary. I was no where near a natural spontaneous labour but the 1st pessary worked and within 12 hrs DD was born. Something to be mindful of is that they don’t check you with an induction, so I had the intense 1min long contractions 1 min apart and rather than being a sign it’s ‘go time’ it was just the pessary. I tried to use hypnobirthing as much as I could but because I was told i could be contracting like that for 24 + hrs , i opted for pethidine as they didn’t think DD would be born for at least another 5 hours. It worked my mind relaxed and she was born 1 hr later, so I went from 1-10cm in an hr.

Anecdotal but people who I know/ follow them on social media that have been induced with the 6 hr gel that you can have as an outpatient have had less positive results and ended up with sections, the 24 pessary seems more effective!

Good luck! Xx

@Sleeplessem thank you.
I will be 41+6 and just had enough tbh.
I’m praying it will be quick as I only have some that night to have the children, I feel sad I maybe having her on my own.
I will hate staying in hospital so long esp with Covid and they have just upped the visiting (I will have no one ha).
I will pack some more bits I think lol.

Fair enough, if you’re done you’re done!

I’m a similar situation with my second, not the induction (that I know of so far) but no childcare. Would you consider a doula, it’s a bit pricey but I feel someone to advocate for you is a big thing.

I don’t know where you’re booked but don’t let them tell you you can’t have a water birth with induction, you absolutely can, especially if you never have the drip. You can come out of the pool for monitoring and actually most places have under water monitors. They fibbed to me and told me it wasn’t an option with mine but I know better now :)

@Sleeplessem thank you so much. I actually asked about this Saturday the midwife said she can’t think why not, but it will be up to the doctor. I explained that for me it made me feel more confident.
I’m spotting a bit today too. I feel really down.
However I will feel happy if I can have a water birth (even on my own as I do go in my own world).
First 2 midwifes who did my sweep
Said they could easily break my waters, let midwife said she felt she couldn’t so can’t see them breaking them.

Most of the time a doctor isn’t even present during induction. I only saw one when I had some spotting. You’re definitely allowed a doula and a water birth xx

Sleeplessem · 04/10/2021 12:23

Also I never needed mine breaking, you might not either, one pessary could do the trick, especially considering your gestation xx

Thanks guys.
Started bleeding, not really sure what to do. Whether it’s a bloody show or something to be worried about.

I’ve no idea as I’ve yet to have a spontaneous labour. Any mucus in the blood or is it just fresh red blood? Either way I’d give triage a call! Might not be being induced after all 🙂🙂

@Sleeplessem no it’s will mucas now. Had a few contractions now nothing. Never had Thai with my previous 3 🤦🏼‍♀️
